LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

I’m pretty disappointed in the price since I was looking at the AG352UCG6 but people seem to complain about the responsiveness so was excited to hear about the LG with similar specs but a generally superior quality panel, however if the price is nearly double, I’m gonna give it a miss

Well you do already have the AW3418DW and X34P. Check them out.

OT. Pushed back date, high price and no clarifications. Color me unimpressed.

But It do look great though!

Edit. Sorry to be negative. I just really want to buy this monitor but it feels LG are missing shots on a open goal.

Searching prices in Europe, I found in Germany....

Dell Store: AW3418DW for 1080€
Amazon.de: X34P for 905€

EDIT: Also for you UK guys...

Amazon.co.uk: AW3418DW for £995
Amazon.co.uk: X34P for £945

Then listen to the LG Germany Rep at IFA saying LG 34GK950G will be 1399€ (aprox £1255) and makes me consider buying one of the other two listed...

The big question is: worth paying extra 400€ for nanoIPS and UW5 panel? I don't think so, considering most of actual AAA games running maxed out on my actual 2560x1440 monitor and powered by a 1080Ti don't deliver more than 100fps.

Sorry if this is unrelated so ignore if so since it’s about the LG; but can anyone give me a reason to buy the £800 Z35P over the £735 AG352UCG6?

As Eluryh says, same panel (8-bit VA 100Hz native OC to 120Hz)... I've read about flickering issues on both though. I've also read about bad ghosting/overshoot on these, but this seems to be one of those things that some people are more bothered by than others.

@Daniel - LG is the November release date accurate, and will that apply to UK also?

If its a Nov release date in the US at around $1400, this thing will be DOA. The Alienware should be even cheaper by then.

Indeed. It is rather expensive for what it is, I must say. On paper it's a better monitor than the AW34/X34P, but not so much to justify the price difference. If they'd used the newer G-Sync module then yes, but they haven't. The Freesync version is actually now looking more appealing, and I'm saying that as an Nvidia owner and stong advocate of G-Sync! Come November we may see a new monitor from Dell announced with the UW5 panel, and/or further info on the long awaited 34" HDR 144Hz UW PG35VQ and X35 (although they are VA panels). Those are going to be expensive, but it will at least be interesting to see how they are priced compared to the 34GK950G... which may not be a good value option by the time it's released, not if the announced price sticks anyway.

Agree with you.

I'll wait till the release to see if anything changes in LG marketing, but if the price still remains at 1400€ sure I'm gonna buy AW3418DW, and maybe it will also be cheaper than now because of the Black Friday. ATM, this LG monitor is DOA for sure.

Black Friday will no doubt see some deals come up. Very odd decision from LG to release that late and at this price, no idea what they're thinking! Production issues may explain the delay, but if that price sticks it's just not going to sell very well for them at all. They aren't Nvidia, they can't slap any price on their products and expect people to just hand over the cash with a smile on their faces!

Yep. But if nobody buy the monitor, they'll have to drop the price for sure. Of course it will be some early adopters that don't care about the money, but it's what we're saying, minor upgrades from AW/X34P don't justify +400€ to the price, specially using the same GSync module as them.
@Daniel - LG that's our opinion, don't know if you care LOL.

You'll suffer tearing and you'll hate the monitor.
And the sphere lighting can be disabled.

No, you turn V-Sync ON and set RTSS FPS cap to .007 Hz lower than refresh rate to eliminate V-Sync ON lag.

The BIG bonus to this monitor is to run 3440x1440 at 144 Hz with STROBING backlight motion clarity.

I would assume so. But on the existing monitors on the market, the panel was overclocked too. Here, it seems to be only the gsync module. I believe it's the FPGA chip that is overclocked, but some say it's the Displayport 1.2. I guess it could be either or both.

8+2 bit FRC is enough for even DisplayHDR1000, so it's fine. This panel is 550 nits peak, so it's a lot closer to DisplayHDR600 than 400. Like I've stated elsewhere, it's odd LG didn't push it to DisplayHDR600 like the 5K ultrawide.

I have no interest in FALD. It creates way too much bloom/light blobs, that is a lot worse for image fidelity than what the added iris destruction capabilities of 1000 nits at less than 1 meters distance, adds:

I mean look at the bloom here. Looks like city lights in fog. It's not supposed to be there. And this is on the stupidly expensive Gsync DisplayHDR1000 monitors. No thanks.

I took that picture, it is the Dell UP2718Q. That is a TERRIBLE monitor and by far the worse FALD ever. My X27 is way better than that.

What bothers me most about all this stuff is that the new Acer Predator X273K uses the new GSync HDR module with DP 1.4 and it's only HDR 400, with no FALD.

Yes it does make you wonder if they'd been able to include that on the LG... although it would obviously be even more expensive then. Actually probably indicates why they didn't... it would be a £1600+ monitor then.

I'd pay $1500 for a gsync 144hz 3440x1440 panel. Ill pay under $1000 for what they are currently putting out.

I'd definitely say the 950G is worth more than the Dell and X34P... it's a newer panel, faster refresh, Nano IPS... but I am VERY dubious as to whether it's worth the extra £350-400 as the suggested £ price indicates... that just seems unjustifiable to me, but until reviews land we can't know. It may be an amazing monitor that delivers in every aspect, in which case I might be convinced. As of now though, I am very much not.

Fingers crossed: 1399€ are "only" a MSRP but LG will offer at day 1 the monitor with a discount like Dell Store with his AW3418DW :D

If Dell and the X34 drop in price or come up in deals, it's going to make the LG look ridiculously overpriced... it already is really, but again, I'll await reviews.

should there be reviews soon? or we will have to wait till the official release date?
