LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

should there be reviews soon? or we will have to wait till the official release date?

Anyone's guess... not sure how on top of this LG are in respect to getting review samples out. Both PCM and TFTCentral had reviews of the 850 though, so hopefully they'll both be getting the 950G/F ASAP! I find them both to be two of the most reliable, objective and thorough reviewers out there, and I will trust their opinion over anywhere else.

I wonder if Alienware is also preparing in short term an AW3418DW upgrade, at least with the new UW5...

They'd be daft not to. I think the AW34 has been a good success for them so it would make sense to do something with that UW5 panel. The only question is if they'd be able to do something this year now. You'd think we'd have heard something concrete by now if they were working on it.

The more I read and think about it, the Freesync really does seem the better monitor here, in all aspects. If you got a 2080/2080Ti to pair with it for example, would the lack of G-Sync REALLY be a problem? Assuming you enabled V-Sync and frame limit on the Freesync version?

I had the 49in Samsung for a bit (144hz) and it was great with a 1080Ti, BUT I did feel the lack of Gsync once I hit under 90fps. A totally subjective thing, but I went back to 21:9 Gsync (X34P) and just pulled it closer to my face :D

Interesting. Also, I'm now thinking with RTX on there's definitely going to be a frame hit in those games that support it, and that's where G-Sync will come in very handy I'm sure.

As soon as the the F version reach 900/950 euros, I'll get it, there is no way the g version will ever get under 1000 euros IMO, and with the new graphics cards we will get +100fps on these monitors so i don't mind about gsync

I don't think you'll get a lot more fps with RTX compared with a 1080Ti. It's more about ray tracing and how the light is drawn.

I mean thats fine as long as you can live with tearing or occasional heavy drops down from 144hz to 70hz or so (ie being back ion the vsync world) because there will always be times where even the newest cards will drop below your monitor refresh rate when talking about 3440x1440 or 4K... at least for the next 5 years or so. I myself am unsure. I absolutely hate tearing, but I also hate when vsync suddenly drops me from 60hz to 30 or 45 hz. But maybe a drop from 144hz to 72 hz or 108hz wont be as bad... hmm geez i dunno such a hard decision and I only buy monitors like once every 7-9 years...

I am in the 60hz vsync world and I want out Out OUT!

This is fully what I expect. But my suspicion is that will also be the end of the heavily discounted alienware ultrawides. I would imagine they will be within 10% of the LG price. Still you would at least get the better warranty which might be a small consolation for any worries of the gsync module not being able to hold 120hz.

This is just a nasty situation for nvidia card owners right now.

I think I would too but even that would **** the hell out of me because that’s a compromised option too... Active cooling? Come on. That will be nice in 5 years when the fan or bearings start to go/get noisy.
Active cooling? Is there a fan blowing on the module to keep it cool?
