LG 38UC99 - 37.5'' 24:10 3840x1600 75Hz IPS FreeSync Strobing Backlight

Have been running mine with a 480 waiting on the vega but to be honest im getting bored of waiting and no solid details on performance so was thinking of going for the 1080ti but wanted to be sure it was a good match for the monitor.

I understand the "getting bored/impatient" part, ive been there myself when the 1070 launched but since you already have the monitor(?) i think it would be smart to wait if you can stomach it. I cannot see how vega would be slower or equal to a 1080. It has to be faster but how much is of course unknown.

Been doing a little reading and it seems like running it in ULMB mode with the sync set to 'Adaptive' and the frames limited to 75 is giving me the best experience so far. Only played around 30 mins but it was bloody fantastic tbh! *Finally* have the graphical power to run this resolution to its full potential and it's glorious

Thanks for the info just need to decide on what way to go.

Nice one mate, might of been tempted myself but just blown my PC fund on a ryzen build so saving again for my next gpu

I'll do more testing this next couple of days but running Adaptive + Frame-limiter + ULMB seems to be the best combo for nVidia cards. Nice and smooth (just keep the fps around 75)

After the release of Vega only being on par with reference 1080, I have finally thrown the towel in the ring and ordered a 1080Ti to run my 38UC99. Regardless of Freesync, it looks like Vega will not be powerful enough to drive the resolution in the (limited) Freesync range anyway, so might as well go for stable performance.

Daniel-LG any hope for a firmware update that will make the monitor not skip frames at 75Hz when run in normal mode without Freesync? The panel should be capable of it, so why is it that the monitor will skip frames when run at standard 75Hz with a nvidia card?

Otherwise a GSync version of the same panel would be awesome, but it looks like all manufacturers are only doing the standard Freesync.

Hi Kleitus - I do not know about a firmware update - I will of course send a feeler out to Korea and see what I can get back :)

Anything from Korea Daniel? :-)

Even though ULMB at 75hz works it's not pleasant (the strobe hurts the head), so I always revert to 60hz, which is a shame really, when I know the panel is capable of 75hz. It must be possible to run at 75hz normal mode without skipping frames. And at the price of this beast it should be... :-)

Kleitus, it's not going to happen man so it's probably best to try and live with it. It's very rare for a monitor manufacturer to release updated firmware for monitors.

Fortunately I don't have any issues with the 75Hz LMB when gaming for a couple of hours, guess I'm just lucky.

@old gamer You had any issues man? He's 92 btw Kleitus, don't know how he can even see never mind game!! :D
