LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

Yeah that is what I meant, feels like once every things properly out people can support it. Cx48 is still the best option defiantly.

OK well that is good news with 4.4.4. and 10bit from Nvidia side, almost felt mission impossible to get 10bit.

Vincent showed a slide show of the Nvidia 3070 card with hdmi 2.1b, wonder what's the B version we barely got 2.1 out haha

I want a Nvidia 3050 with hdmi 2.1 out but not sure that will happen anyone time soon, maybe Nvidia 3060 later on.

QI Lin is Product Manager for Nvidia - So it is confirmed that we will get 444 Chroma at 10bit!

Yeap, it's 100% confirmed from Nvidia:

Worth remembering that the C9, CX and all other consumer monitors/tv's, are all a maximum of 10bit panels. There are no 12bit consumer panels in existence. Some believe there'll be slightly better image quality, sending a 4k120hz 4:4:4 12bit signal to a 10bit monitor, perhaps they're right. No-one has tested this yet, though if there is a difference, you'll probably need superhero vision to tell the difference.

Once again I advise CX owners, or those considering it, to be prepare themselves for the various trolls that exist on this forum, and others. I'm not sure exactly what their motives are. I believe some of them are envious they don't have them, then you have the C9 owners, some of which are annoyed they didn't wait for the 48" CX, it's crazy. If you look through this thread, you'll find countless posts of incorrect, conjecture or just blatant nonsense that non owners have posted. The actual owners of the panel will attest to it's performance, image quality and what it's like to actually use in real life. Just ignore the trolls/haters, and make your own decisions based on fact.

TLDR > It's currently the best 4k monitor out there, and will fully support 4k 120Hz 4:4:4 (no chrome sub-sampling) via HDMI 2.1 10bit signal.

I've got it set, too. Text looks gash but HDR games are fine.

And yes, I'm also looking forward to the full potential with the new cards - I've just upgraded my MoBo this afternoon so I've got PCIE 4 - I'm taking no chances. :p

Good stuff!

I'm hoping to wait it out for LGA1700 or AM4+ or AM5, next gen architectures from Intel & AMD, with DDR5, USB4 etc. Also first new architectures from Intel for 5 years launching, meaning big IPC improvements. I'm assuming the new GPU's will still be GPU limited at 4K, though if my CPU does struggle, I'll have to bite the bullet earlier than intended, we'll see :p

Don't wanna invest more ££ into a dead end DDR4 platform at this point!

After throwing £1500 at the OLED another £1500 + £150 for the waterblock is just a bit too rich for me. I'll live with the 3080 until the Ti/Super comes out.

I'm seeing more than 10GB used in some games at 4K already, I'd advise against a 10GB card. Hopefully we'll have some good news from NV/AMD in the next few days, NV's line up is crying out for a 16/20GB 3080!

I hear you but I think we'll see those memory sizes in the 3080Ti/Super card. I'll just upgrade to that when it comes out and flog the 3080

Hi did you try to play games on lower resolution than 4k at 120Hz on CX. If yes how it looks compared to 4k . Is it watchable. Reason im asking is if rtx3080 wont be able output 120fps always on 4k i will lower resolution Thanks

Remember you have VRR so you don't need to hit the 120Hz consistently.

I played Star Wars Fallen Order at 1440 as 4k was hitting too many lows. I think it really depends on the game.

thank you for reply. I dont have cx yet. Was picture quality good at 1440p. In short is difference between 1440p and 4k picture very noticeable

thats great thanks. Nvidia did benchmark i think on Doom and 3080 doing well about 130fps on average at 4k. check youtube
1440 because I want the fps. It looks incredible at 1440 HDR 120fps. When I get the 3080 hopefully it will do close to 120fps at 4k. The screen is amazing.

Good plan. I'm worried that the 3080ti/20GB version will end up closer to the 3090 than I'd like, so tempted to just get a 3090 from the get go, as it will be unmatched for 2 years and will serve me well. Unless AMD throw a spanner in the works... Hmm!

I played DOOM eternal at 1440p 120fps on my OLED. It was So much better than 4K 60fps in terms of smoothness. 4K might give a fidelity boost but 120fps vs 60fps is no contest.
