LG 5120x2160 Ultrawides

What an atrocious "review" - hardly any more than an unboxing. How on earth does this guy have half a million subs?!

I'll wait for HUB/MUB thanks.
Very odd really. His first video in 6 years, and all his others seem to be completely unrelated to tech reviews. I guess he’s just bought it himself and thought he’d “review” it for some reason

The review I watched bashes the coating and the colour accuracy, especially in HDR mode. Really put me off. I might wait for their 39/34 inch offerings later in the year or for a QD Oled competitor or even hope they start at leasting putting glossy on. Not paying that much for lacklustre colour. I dunno I'll watch more but that's really put me off. Hoping to pair an ultra wide with the PG27UCDM when that gets to a more reasonable price.

Coating bashing? Let me guess - The Display Guy?

45 inch is too large for my desk and usage. 34-39” feels like the sweet spot for ultrawide monitors. Surprised they launched with such a large panel as I think it’ll put customers off.

I’d consider a 5k2k OLED but will probably just go for a 27” 4k OLED instead.

TBH.....personally it's one of the very few, probably only one, on the table for me at the moment.
AW3423DW has done its duty, but is too unreliable with signal lockups and such that it needs replacing very soon, and there's obviously a massive upgrade in feature with this. Not overly concerned with the lack of gloss, not to say I don't like glossy, but that too has it's drawbacks, so much I'd plump for a matte if there was an option on purchase, especially for a device which would be in use right in your face.
With more hitting the users now, as opposed to the Youtubers, there should be hopefully more real world impressions.

I've been considering a switch to the 45" 5k2k screen for later in the year.
I went from a 34" monitor to the 49" ultrawide, but have found that I'm craving a little more verticle space so the new LG 5k2k monitor might be the ideal size or me to use.

Seems people are able to achieve higher dual mode resolutions and refresh rates out of this thing.

With it being 45”, it means you can hang on to some of that dpi with the customs resolutions in dual mode, meaning you can enjoy 3840x1600 @ 330hz with 1:1 pixel map. That sounds pretty good, if accurate.

Also full 4k @ 240hz, and potentially even 217hz reported at native albeit with an ‘out of range’ message being spammed over the screen.

I’m going to test this out in the near future and see what’s what. Our full review should be online next week too

Is it? What about if you’re using the screen in a brightly lit room? Or you’ve got a window or lamp that faces the screen and is behind you?

Everyone has a different use case, matte isn’t “always bad”.

Same with TVs. Mine has a shiny surface but they added a matte coating to the successor model.

Doesn't bother me having it shiny as I only ever watch in a dark room but, for most people, the matte coating will be a godsend, otherwise they'd see themselves and the room reflected in anything other than the brightest scenes.
