LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

Research atm :)

TV comes on Tuesday and in the interim period I'll continue to use the YSP-2500 but I definitely want to replace prior to the PS5 arrival. However, I was leaning towards the Sonos Arc but I have read a few comments about issues either working with the cx or the cx itself having eArc issues. Hoping a few cx owners have some experience, recommendations, especially with a PS4 / HDR Arc/eArc connected soundbars.

This assumes the soundbar has more than 1 hdmi? The Sonos Beam and Arc do not. My existing soundbar (2500) doesn't support 4k or hdr it seems, so I need to upgrade. I'm just not sure what to or what is best with the cx; hence reaching out for recommendations / comment.

couldn't you get a switcher for the soundbar if the absense of an additional hdmi socket is the problem ?
or, is there anyway, a codec/format support problem on the 2500 eg does 5.1pcm not work at an adequate bandwidth.

I think the issue is self-inflicted on reflection. Today, I connect both the Sky freeview and PS4 via the 2500, which does not support HDR or HDCP 2.2 pass through. I guess there is nothing stopping me from connecting these directly to the TV! I'll soon know on Tuesday.

Can’t wait to set it up! I’ve got it on the wall and have to say, coming from a 55 C9, I was left a little underwhelmed in the size difference. Was hoping for it to look massive like when I went from 40 to 55

Can you tell that to my partner? I really want 65" but she's adamant that it'll be too big and wont budge from 55".

Fuming cause I know in a few months she'll say "Oh we should've got 65"

"One may not regret buying the TV that is too large, one may regret buying the TV that is too small."

Or bribe her with something she wants in exchange :)

For optimal size depends how far back you are?

Honestly every time I upgrade size (32 > 37 > 42 > 48 > 55) I sit down, and within 3 minutes notice the space around the screen and think "could've gone bigger". Don't be that guy like me :D

It's not a huge room so I do somewhat see her point but sadly my man math attempt to make it look like I was being compromising by picking the 55" didn't work.
I told her for a room of our size we could go up to 77" and it would be OK... I made an attempt I suppose!

It's not just the size annoyingly. We have some vouchers to use which we'll be using to get the TV and a few sound bits, don't think I'll be able to convince her to spend the extra on the bigger screen (as much as I'd want it!) and still get the sonos bits.

Such a first world problem i know :p

What is the floorplan of the room?

W= 4200 L = 4715 (Assuming I'm reading the dimensions correctly). The longer side is partly a dinner area so I suppose it's the width that's most important as would effect our seating distance

This is what I've been trying to say! realistically by the time we sit on the sofa it would actually be 3M away but still... she wont listen that 55 will look small.

My desk for work is almost exactly 3m away from a 55" TV. In other words I look past my desk and monitor, over my sofa, across the leg space and pouffe, at the TV. I suppose it isn't tiny but it does remind me of a little 32" TV in the corner of posh living rooms. Like where it's quite obviously not used much. I certainly couldn't appreciate the full image quality from here!

In a (for me, best) Case scenario we take the TV home and see it isn't as imposing as she thought and bring it back and upgrade.

I feel she will win this fight though

I'm sat 4M back exactly from a 77" and it's about right.

55" might well be small enough at that distance to be bad for your eyes, especially if you are struggling to read text on screen.

Can't help you on the persuasion front though, that's a battle you'll have to fight.

What's really set me up to fail is that some friends of ours has a 55" B9 and they have a slightly larger living room than ours so she says "It's fine in their room, why wont it be in ours?"

If it wasn't such a jump in price I'd order the bigger version and deal with the consequences after!
