LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

You are probably right. Should just sit back and enjoy the true blacks and incredible contrast/colours :D
Yeah, since I got my OLED I have realised what I was sadly missing out on with crappy LED tech. TV, movies and gaming are just on another level.

My motto now after so many wasted years is to stop fannying around with "value" stuff and just get the best tech from the start and be happy in whatever I do. :)

Yeah it's only way because a TV upgrade (I actually have the BX) is going to be steep.

I think a QLED will be next TV though when I eventually do upgrade.
A QLED is a definite downgrade in overall levels of image quality and gaming performance vs an OLED. The only thing they have going for them is increased brightness if you watch TV in super bright conditions (which most people don't).

The only way I can get adequate levels of brightness, or rather pop with HDR/DV is using Vivid mode, if I am watching DV in Cinema home mode (unedited), to me there is little pop and I struggle to tell difference from a non HDR 4k video.

Vivid there is a slight improvement, but I think ABSL could be causing issues like this.

And HDR in games on the PC, most look junk, I really can't seem to get any games looking good in HDR, this is with black levels enabled on the HDMi and running at 10bit, Full, RGB in NV control panel

Sounds like you watch TV in very bright conditions, because an OLED is objectively better for 4k material than QLED, as it has richer colours and far better contrast. The only area it lack is HDR output, but imo this is very overrated anyway and as I watch TV and movies in darkened conditions then I don't want my retinas burning out anyway.

Yeh most games i prefer without hdr myself, as when hdr enabled, just seems to like wash the image out mostly.

I'm so glad this has come up, I found it just ruined the look of Ori games! The thing is, HDR for communicating detail in films, where it's a real life image captured through a lens... That benefits. Games can be artificially created from scratch to look great with any colour definition. 16 bit era games look fantastic and vivid and bold don't they?

Yeh, as a example the enhanced edition of Metro Exodus, the hdr and the ray tracing, just took the atmosphere out of the game for me, just made everything more brighter, its all over the internet about people saying hdr a lot of the time just makes games washed out looking.

Got a CX55 in the Black Friday sales. Weirdly mine’s an October 2021 build date so LG are still making them for some reason.

Unfortunately like a lot of others (based on some Googling), I have the HDCP handshake issue which means that any HDMI inputs won’t allow 4K. Apparently it’s due to be fixed via a firmware update but I updated last night to the latest one and it’s still not working.
