LG OLED 2023 Thread - A3, B3, C3, G3

Found out what I was asking above;

The C44 and C45 are exactly the same. However, the remotes are slightly different. The remote shipped with the C45 is an NFC Magic Remote, and the remote shipped with the C44 is a standard Magic Remote. The NFC Magic Remote has the 'Magic Tap' feature, which allows you to tap your phone against the remote to connect your phone to the TV much quicker. It's a much quicker and simpler process to share your screen, watch the videos stored on your phone on the TV, see your photos on the TV, and easily connect to services on the TV such as Spotify. The C44 is still able to connect to your phone, but it would be done via the TV Settings instead of tapping the remote. The C46 works exactly the same as the C44 (non-NFC) but it has WiSA Speaker Compatibility. The C43 has both NFC and WiSA Speaker Compatibility.

Well egg on my face I bought the £4 classic remote from Amazon as I can't stand the magic remote, lols.

Its the 'NFC and WiSA Speaker Compatibility', LG have had this for a few years now. Certian SKUs that have that particualr feature demand a premium.

Im guessing for those that need it then its important, otherwise justget the cheaper one.

I agree that is not acceptable and I would have returned it too. Poor quality control or just ignoring a problem that they know about.

It's so common on large panel sizes that if LG threw away all panels with dirty screen effect they'd probably be throwing most LG TVs in the rubbish bin

I suppose I shouldn’t really ask if I don’t see something but how do you test for banding as above?

On YouTube search for "5% grey" and click on the 2nd video on the list. Play the video in a pitch black room, at night with all the lights off

Better quality control by LG would help too rather than telling customers it’s normal and to put up with it.

It is unfortunate- it's what we call the TV lottery or panel lottery. As a consumer you'd expect that if you buy 10 LG C4 TVs they will all perform exactly the same - exact same color output to within 0.1%, exact same brightness to within 1 nit and exact same image uniformity. However this just isn't the case anymore, leading to this lottery issue.

It's all manufacturers I'm afraid. A year ago I had to replace my Samsung QD OLED monitor and the replacement measures 100nits lower peak brightness

LG C1 OLED

Samsung QN85 QLED

Alienware QD OLED

Hisense IPS LCD

Sony Bravia LED LCD

Apple studio display

Panasonic VT30 Plasma

As you can see this issue of banding on dark grey images has existed since Plasmas, possibly even earlier and it's still happening today across all manufacturers and panel types - no manufacturer is throwing away panels for this issue

Nice little firmware upgrade. Seem to fix an issue I had with the Tv randomly turning off since last update and they added film maker mode to DV!!

Not sure if my TV did the update or not. I’m on software version 23.20.54.

I still get the E-Arc issue where occasionally it takes a couple of mins for sound to come out my soundbar.

Same firmware. I had that issue but it seem to have fixed it. I had to turn the TV on and off before.
