LG OLED C9 as a PC monitor - Yes, I'm crazy, Yes time to get some burn in.

Gears 5 is sublime
Bored me to tears. Had to uninstall after an hour or so. It is just mindless shooting. Not my kind of game I suppose. I am more of an RPG guy.

One thing I will say is though, very nice graphics and excellent optimisation!

There is no .12 the firmware has gone from 04.70.05 to 04.71.05

[04.70.05]
1. 19Y B&O TV(V300) SW development
2. TV Voice assistant using mobile LG TV plus App
3. Adding Voice assistant feature in Netflix
4. Enhancement to Amazon Alexa service
5. Enhancement to Home Dashboard

[04.71.05]
1. Featuring NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible.

Fantastic thanks!

Really tempted to go for the B9 or C9 55” but just some things I want to clarify:

  • there is an MLB version @ curry’s - I assume this is exactly the same but just with a different stand? The C9 is currently reduced to £1249 with 10% back from Quidco + still get a 5 year warranty, so seems a bit of a steal.
  • Do the UK versions have the update for G sync? As from googling I can’t clarify if it’s it been released in the UK yet?

Yup looked beautiful tho.
That HDR at the start of the game with the total darkness and just the torch light was bueaitufl

By the way, gsync has been working for a long time, since the NV driver 441.08, so since 29.10.2019 together with the LG firmware 04.07.05.
I got the 65C9 three months ago. Awesome Display, next level PC gaming.

I got so much hate on reddit for reccomending this TV lol.
Their idea of value is probably dropping a thousand on a “gaming” monitor that has terrible backlight bleed; only goes to 400 nits; looks awful in HDR; has grey looking blacks; and all of this out of the box from day one! But hey, we’re the stupid ones because we MAY get screen burn in a few years time IF we abuse the display.

+1

Indeed, it makes me laugh when people go on about burn in, even though it is only a "possibility" and generally only with retarded usage..... But hey, you know what, lets put up with thousand pound monitors that have all those above disadvantages amongst **** poor contrast ratio, viewing angles, ****** pixel response times until MLED monitors arrive in about a decade when/if they cost a decent amount all just to avoid the possibility of burn in happening.......

The only legitimate reason to not get OLED right now is because of size and even then, if needs be, rearrange furniture etc. get it mounted on a wall, which saves a ton of space then have a normal monitor for all the usual desktop/browser/work etc. usage.

Had my OLED since 2017 now and still no sign of any image retention at all.

Can't wait till the day that OLED/MLED 21.9 monitors do arrive though.

You're right about the size, the second factor not to get is lack of HDMI 2.1 on a GPU and third factor is 120hz limit

Give me one at 43", 144+ hz and a next gen gpu with better connectivity :)
