LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Just remembered, that the res. isn't the issue but the aspect ratio, iirc PCM2 said that this monitor HDMI connection doesn't properly support the 21.9 AR. Support was added to HDMI 2.0

edit:

and I did actually use the supplied cable by LG for my first monitor, image looks fine but compared to DVI-D, it did look a bit stretched.

Anyone know how to remove the LG True Color Finder Software in Windows 8.1 Pro?
Control Panel and and Remove cant do it. It says "The Specified module could not be found."

I want to remove it as every time I have anything in full screen, and then exit that, it makes the windows new device sound pops a few times, flashes and screen and resizes and moves all my windows over the place. It's extremely annoying, as each time it also tries to reinitialize the True Color Finder software.

I gave in and ordered the LG 34 P95, with the price drop. Don't really care about the curved screens coming out and thunderbolt is more important as I use macs. Of course this will be used on my gaming PC as well. I will get it on Tuesday. Hopefully it will be ok.

Best of luck getting a fantastic one! I have it with my Mac Pro, and in OSX it's suprerb. The LG Software is very annoying for me in Windows though. Could be down to Thunderbolt, as it needs a specific driver to enable data signalling over it in Windows.

couple questions ...

- Is dell coming out with its on 34" flat screen with this same res? (I know they are coming out with a curved screen that wont have decent refresh rates).

- Also do you think a 4 gig vid card (the new nividia) will be able to drive this ok in games? (single card).

- also hows the screen matte or glossy and hows it look for txt and games etc

Dell = December

290X/780Ti are about what is needed with any level of eye candy, some report acceptable performance with lesser cards - though most like AA can be disabled and left to the resolution. As ever things will depend on the game/engine.

I don't know anything about the green-team's kit since I got the "bumps" off them.

Now that there's a lot more owners, i'll ask this again; Can anyone try overclocking the panel?

What I mean is, create a custom resolution in Nvidia drivers, or Custom resolution utility for AMD, and see how high you can go at the native res.. like, 72hz would be ideal. And check if there's any frameskipping/judder visible to your eye.

Cheers.

I second, third and fourth this request!

I run my dell 2560 x 1080 at 75hz and it makes a big difference in terms of smoothness and feel for quite a few games compared to 60hz.
I've also tried gaming at 120hz (on an Eizo monitor) and to be honest I was / am more than pleased with the 75hz on my dell in comparison.
This is why I'm hoping the new raft of bigger 3440 x 1440 panels might overclock a bit too.

Surely would overclocking monitors past their recommended refresh rate not degrade the quality and/or life time of a monitor?

edit;

also, would it not void your warranty?

If you push it too far you get frameskipping. You don't want this obviously. If your monitor can handle a mild overclock, it's fine, and I think the consensus is it does no harm.

Void your warranty? Like overclocking your GPU or CPU a bit, which no-one on here ever does do they :o :)

True... but don't most etailers and brands allow/cover CPU, GPU and RAM overclocking now? Never see monitor manufacturers advertising overclocking when they release new monitors :p

It works fine, but it is showing some frameskipping when I scroll the browser window too quickly. on 65hz it's the same but less, and on 60hz theres non at all.

So there is your answer. :)

Still getting that annoying screen tear/sync issue down the center of my screen when scrolling through websites on the desktop.
Iv seen a few people report the same issue.
I emailed LG and they said they believe its a Graphic card issue but I really doubt that. Why isn't it happening for many others? I have two 290 cards with the latest drivers so I fail to see how it could be a graphics issue.

Could it be a cable issue?
Is it better to get better display port cable?

Having latest something does not mean "no problems guaranteed"

I have this tearing on a 280X and 14.4/14.7rcX drivers, so if we don't see any nvidia users complaining about this, it might be an issue with AMD cards indeed

Got my monitor yesterday. Why did no one tell me it was so big :p Spent a lot of time rearranging my desk. I have a dual monitor arm which of course I can not use for the LG. Need to get two of those Silverstone monitor arms. I did not have much time last night, but it does not have any dead or stuck pixels (Had the normal scare with dust pretending to be stuck pixels). I only seem to have very very slight bleed, which you don't even notice in dark games like EVE (Brightness was at about 50). I will look closer later on. I quickly fired up games like EVE and GTA and wow, it felt so immersive. Not seen any screen tearing when on the desktop using a browser, but I was not really looking.
