LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Weird, never had any issues like that here on AMD or nVidia. For AVCHD stuff like Tears Of The Sun in 4K I had to disable DXVA for the AVC internal video decoder. I had weird seek issues with it in DXVA mode but with it off for that it is butter smooth.

My CPU is a 3770K @ 4.6 btw. CPU usage with DXVA off for AVC-HD is around 27% iirc, with it ON it dropped to something like 13%.
There is a known issue with both PowerDVD & Total Media Theatre where they cannot play MKV files without constant stuttering some people claim they do it deliberately to cripple MKV playback  neither company has fixed this either in their latest builds its being going on for a few years now.

MPC though has flawless MKV playback even for 1:1 MKV's over 40GB apart from the frame skipping. Not sure how I troubleshoot that either !

Has anyone got a tear in the center of the screen on this model?

Now and again when scrolling on webpages ill notice a sync type tear in the center of the screen. Iv read on other forums about people seeing it aswell. Could be a firmware issue maybe?
Do we know if there going to release any firmware updates for this?

I have it too.
I see it mainly in videos (youtube/vlc...) and games, on desktop I use the screen in two halves (split in the middle, where the tearing happens) so I don't see it, but I'm sure it's there.
Everything was fine for like 2-3 weeks, now it happens once or twice per hour.
I'm running it (REV00/MAY14) with one R9 280X, saw it with 14.4 and 14.7rc drivers... I'd put my money on firmware/settling electronics problem.
And there is no way LG is going to put out a firmware update, I checked other displays on their site and none ever had any updates :)
So this blows... I still love it, but I'm thinking more and more about a curved version in few months if this persists...

Not seen it while I've been testing it over the last week. Are you talking about a vertical or horizontal tear and is it right in the centre?

as I was saying, on my mine it took a couple of weeks to show up
also it doesn't seem to affect everyone
so your sample might have it...or not
What's your REV/manufacturing date? and GPU/drivers?

No, I don't have LG's split screen thing installed.

And yes it's a vertical tear straight down the middle (top to bottom).
Makes me wonder if it isn't a problem with the PBP functionality. There were other reports of it freaking out (huge artifacts) on one half (mainly the right one it seems to me). Some good example here http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1040821934&postcount=1109

Haven't tried full reset yet, I've just calibrated it, had to install a 32bit win8.1 as the True Color Finder refused to detect the screen on my main 64bits installation...so if I reset I'll have to rehook the 32b win drive to recalibrate the display and it's a huge pain in the ass since I cannot physically access my rig for a couple of weeks :(

Mine is hooked with the DP cable from the box. It happens with and without DP1.2 enabled.

Split screen software isn't installed on mine and its the same as above. Iv only noticed it so far on webpages when im scrolling down the page ill suddenly get a tear in the middle of the screen. Maybe happenes 1-2 times a day at the moment but im sure I didn't notice it when I first got the screen or on my previous 2 lg monitors that went back because of the bleeding.

I just hope that it doesn't get worse or persist as this monitor is near enough perfect when it comes to backlight bleed.

This is a quote from another forum

"Still getting a vertical tearing/off-sync issue down the center of my screen at random times, only one other person has reported it so far and i'm tempted to call LG and ask them about that rumored firmware update. It seems to be happening more, I see it 2-3 times every 12-15 hours while gaming"

Seems to be a known issue for some.

Weird issue. Maybe related to the PbP function I suppose. The unit I'm testing isn't brand new by the way so will look out for it some more and check rev/ manuf date

Mine is supposed to be new, everything was wrapped/covered with plastic as it should be, but the screws for the stand had scuff marks as if someone used them before and applied too much force with the screw driver... that's minor but weird.
Also do you use it with DP1.2 enabled? Many (me included) have reported picture flickering that sometimes comes with a loud "pop" sound (putting volume to 0 + muting display speakers "solved" that part of the issue for me).
Apart from that I don't have major bleed/glow (from my "movie" position, there is none), which is nice.

For the REV and Date check on the back of the monitor as it does not seem to match what's on the box flaps.

Yeah I found the config file where you can alter the aspect ratio. Changed it to 2.38 but it made no difference. Still the black bars.

Still getting them annoying sync lines in the middle of the screen too. Only notice them when im scrolling downwards on a website you can see the tear in the middle of the screen like its 2 separate panels or something.
Not the end of the world but a little annoying for an expensive screen.

In its 3rd week now, the first time round tool pretty much a month so I've sent an email chasing up but I expect another week.

Ah cool, hopefully you will get it back relatively soon then!

Which displayport cable do people use? Thinking of changing to it from DVI-D largely because DVI-D cable is a PITA to insert/remove (with those screw things) plus cable is thinner etc.

Looking at this one currently....
