LG TV upgrade

I have an LG 47LD450-ZA which I have used as my main TV for several years now. It is OK, but I'm thinking of upgrading. I use my PC on this, for gaming mainly, but the advantage of it being in the front room means my media is readily available.

Just thinking of what Tv would be best with low input lag and decent quality for around the £800 mark? I see 4k sets are plummeting in price due to lack of content, so wondering if I wait a little and they will arrive at my price point? On the other hand I have heard that 4k is pointless on a normal size screen, and it would need to be 80" to notice.

Your thoughts?

Aagh, should have checked the hdtvtest.co.uk site, which I've used in my other comments, as it seems there's a new competitor in town:
Sony KDL42W705B

Though the difference is very small. In essence, this year's 705 is the last year's 653. Well, it might be that the 653 is harder to find, as it's a 2013 model. Although, as it's last year's model, you might also get it for cheaper. In any case, either one you can find, grab it.

ahhh cheers for the help guys. Yeah its kind of working out what I want. As the wife obviously isn't bothered about response rate, she just wants to watch Eastenders :D But I need something a bit better than I have, higher refresh rate mainly. I get sickness when paying some games (serious sam, machine for pigs) and I've heard higher refresh rate can help this a bit. I will take a look at those posts, thanks for the advice

Also, forgot to mention, she who must be obeyed also wats 47 or larger so that 42 isn't ideal, but I will see if I can convince her :p

Well, there is also the Sony KDL50W829, but it's a bit worse in the input lag side (though still very tolerable). Not to mention quite a bit more expensive. Also, while it does have 3D, the implementation of it seems to be quite bad.

Then there's also another last year's model, Sony KDL47W805A, which might be a better option (lower input lag, working 3D), but again, for a higher price. Being last year's model, might be harder to find, too.

Personal recommendation:
If you can find the 805, go for that. If not, then try to persuade the missus for a 42" with the 653 or 705. If that fails, then the 829 remains as the last viable option.

If you want to risk it, you could also try and buy a bigger size of the reviewed models, like the Sony KDL50W705B. But be warned, there's a chance they won't have the same input lag characteristics.
