LG Viewty viewers

Does the silver on the side of the phone come off relevantly easily? Allot off phones on fleebay that are going second hand seem to have that problem. Just wondering if it’s a cheap crappy silver coat?
 
Stuff it.. I took the plunge and got it seen as it was the only decent thing in my price range. I got it for £175 locked to the Orange Network. Have any of you guys got the phone opend to all networks? If so, how much were you charged? The cheapest I've seen online is £30 :\. I havent checked the local shops around here yet, but there prices are usually a joke.

i'm with 3 here and upgrade the the viewty just before xmas.

Was on a £15 p/m line rental plus £9 p/m video pack. But for some reason they forogt to charge me for the video pack so only pay £15 pm, bargin !! :D

I unlocked mine by myself for free, you can too just check out the forum. The link was posted on the first page of the thread. I also switched to the unbranded 10a firmware but thats just because i really don't like the branding orange put on their phones.

I'm usually pretty good at doing this kind of thing, I debranded my k810i no problems. For some reason I dont understand how you unlock it with the instructions posted on the ku990 forum.. i'll try haveing a look over it again.
I want to debrand my phone seen as mines on orange. Just picked it up today. Any info would be great :).

The de-branding (although I was happy to try it) from what I gather is pretty risky. The method I used was the one here:-

The other method (which just changes a few files rather than a complete re-flash is here:-

The consensus on there seems to be there are no real benefits from doing either of the above. There is the risk of bricking your handset and you will lose more software/functions than you gain. But like I said, I really don't like orange phone branding. If you do decide to risk it and switch to another firmware make a note of your internet /MMS settings etc. because you will lose them all.

Cheers for the info mate, I will probably get round to doing it tomorow :).

The only real gripe I have with the phone is that scrolling up and down the screen is very poor.

To DanMc07 you can use the scroll wheel on the camera for that too.
 
I think the k810i's camera was the icing on the cake tbh as far as cam phones go, no real compromise with anything where as all the 5mp ones seem to have different issues.

As far as video quality goes the viewy is great the slow mo gets great vid i been taking some of the cats playing outside looks great and the vga mode is top notch.

problems me and a few friends are having:

* starting up the photo album is dog slow, it can take upwards of 7-8 seconds to start up.
* selecting a thumbnail and opening the picture can take the same amount of time again, for eeeveeeeryyyy picture you look at
* zooming in on a picture can take 4 or 5 seconds for it to do anything. and then the same time again to go back to none zoomed
* the camera auto fucus is very slow (compared to my n95)
* the camera forgets its settings and reverts back to VGA mode
* the camera performs poorly in low light (compared to my n95)
* general lag when doing anything intensive (using the camera, the picture viewer ect)
* call quality isnt as good as my n95

bare in mind with the album problems, i have 6-700 photos on the memory card. but that isnt an excuse when my n95 deals with them flawlessly. i bought the viewty as an upgrade to my n95. now its just sitting in a box:(
 
I have no issues with the camera, zooming is fine for me picture quality is fine even in low light apart from as posted above it does lack abit of colour compared to the K810i one but that even beats my brother n95 hands down on picture quality imo.

The pics issue is there but it was the same on the k810i so nothing to me

The lag issue you aint using that theme program are you, that lets you use loads of themes at once as when i used that it caused my phone to lag but its fine for me without it.

I can't say i really get lag problems apart from the picture ones so not sure on that matter, the only thing i get is with the video camera when you use 120fps recording it lowers the cams rez to 320x somet, all i have to do is put it back on 640x480 so don't worry me that, ive used my brothers N95 for over a week and it wasn't for me at all glad i had the opportunity or i would have got one and regreted it for the price they are.
 
can one of you kind fellows upload there default silver theme to here please? i can't for the life of me find it on the internet.. I deleated it by accident (somehow) when i deleated theme manager off of my phone.
