Lian-Li Case Conundrum

It pretty much was the only concern I think! Silly really! What are these 2-3 bay extra fan/hd bays you mention? Do you mean like THIS ONE - that's just one bay though and I thought these got hidden behind the blanks anyway? I definitely would want something for the blanks - without spending a fortune. I'd go for the black version of this case though, so whatever I get would have to go with that. Thanks fof the pics - I'm definitely leaning towards the V2000, just need to figure out what to do at the front!

:)

Someone beat me to it.

Yeah, they do a 2 bay or a 3 bay version and they are relatively cheap (can't post a link for obvious reasons), I was thinking about getting one for the front of the 1000 just to drop a colured fan in and no drives for my lads, decoration really. I doubt that an extra intake to the main compartment would do any harm either, certainly with the way I have the internal and CPU fans set-up already.

You can get blanks that look like the rest of the perforated front as well, which opens up all sorts of options for 3rd party drive bay fans such as the Scythe, allows the air through nicely and you would be able to see a coloured fan etc. nicely too.

Anyone got the TR3 fan/temp display?

can you give any more info on these drilled blanks?

also interested in the fan controller, just got my v1000 this week so i will most likely be purchasing the controller (very) early next year.

EDIT: i am still looking for pics of the lian li controller 'working' i want to see what the display is like, i will only buy if it is blue. (im a bit picky!!)

The blanks are official Lian-Li blanks that aren't showing on their website. I can't post the link to the few sites that I have found them on, as they are competitiors. But basically they look exactly like the rest of the front of the case, ie. they have holes in them, and look just like on the new A-16:

I found out about them on Hard Forum originally and found them in the US and would have been economical to ship them, but then I found them listed in the UK but out of stock, so am just waiting for them tocome in.

The drilled blanking plates do look nice. Not so sure about the 2-3 drive bays though - simply from a looks perspective. Doesn't seem as though it would match what with those vertical lines.

Woudl be ideal if you could buy the square drive bay that comes with the A16. That would match up perfectly!

What would someone type into a popular search engine to locate such an item? :)

Couldn't say whether it will fit, but have a look at the pic with the Ninja in the V1000 above, get the Tuniq's measurements and you should have enough to make an educated guess.

If you are unsure come back to me with the measurements of the cooler and I will crank the case open and have a look, unless someone clarifies it before then.

Banandude, I will find the link and get back to you.

Thanks for that! Now I just need to find somewhere in the UK that does it in black!

Incidentally, the Tuniq measurements reference the last post are 131mm (W) x 108mm (H) x 153mm (D). I can't see a problem with it fitting, although I thought it may pose problems with the V1000 given the position of the air duct. I didn't think this was on the V2000 though, according to Normski in an earlier post, but looking at the Lian Li site, it seems it is?

Below is diagram of the Tuniq which may help you, and a pic below that of the V1000 with the air duct highlighted. As I say, looking at the Lian Li site, it seems this is on the V2000 also - http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Chassis/Server_Full_Tower/V_Series/S_V_S_PC-V2000plus_2.htm

The duct is completely removable on both cases. :)

It is an optional extra, not an essential part of it's operation.
(I don't have mine installed for example - No need for it with the Zalman HSF)

i just managed to get mine fitted (as far out as it can go) with a thermaltake tower112. i cant see there being any extra functionality with it like this so it is just a metter of aesthetics in my v1000. just cant decide it i want to keep it, or take it out though :D

Look forward to seeing those pics! :D

Another question for you - would a 45cm SATA cable be long enough for either of these cases, or would I need the 60cm or even 100cm one? I have a couple of 45cm cables, so just wondering if I need to get longer ones for either the V1000/V2000? Would I get away with a 45cm IDE cable for my DVD drive also?

:)

...dude

May have misled you on the SATA cable issue, the ones I have in the v1000 in the picture are 50cm long and where the drives are in that pic I have had a little problem with the bottom SATA connector coming away from the HD SATA socket over a few days as the cable is almost taught.

I would suggest 60cm cables for the front HD's on that basis. If you were to use the cage nearest the PSU, the 45's would be fine. Interestingly, am just looking at the Western Digital cables that clamp onto the drive.

I have been trying to find a place in the UK that sells the v2000b plus II but I cannot seem to find anywhere... I think I found one place but it was for the silver version - anyone here know of any place?
thanks

They will be sold as the Plus version it seems, as apparently the boxes for the Plus II don't say so, they only say Plus. The ones OCUK are selling say Plus on their site, but people have reported they've received the Plus II. You may find this is the case in most places. Once stock of the Plus runs down, the Plus II's will take their place I imagine. Not sure if Lian-Li will be changing their packaging sometime soon - confusing for distributors and customers otherwise.

confirmed. ordered v1000b plus from ocuk and the stickers on the box say just that. but inside the box was the plusII. obviously the only way of knowing which case is in the box is to actually physically open the box (which i doubt suppliers and retailers are going to want to be doing). therefore it can only be advertised as the plus version because it cannot be guaranteed that it is a pusII in the box.
