Lightroom 4 now available

Well i've installed LR4 and migrated my LR3 catalog over. Inital 15 min impression is that the new develop module sliders are a little easier to understand for those who haven't used before. The exposure compensation mask brush is brilliant. However, the sliders in develop module seem a little sluggish at the moment.

Plus they still haven't put the feature i most want in - the ability to add multiple keywords at once from saved keywords

So will this just outright refuse to install on Windows XP? I wish I had read the review before buying it, still on Lightroom 2.7 so though it was time to update...

It will not run on XP which is not really surprising. You require Vista with Service Pack 2 or Windows 7 with Service Pack 1.

can LR4 be insalled on multiple computers?

On a second:

Subject to the terms of the software license agreement, the primary user of the computer on which Lightroom is installed may install a second copy of the software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable computer or a home computer, provided that the software is not used on both computers at the same time. Lightroom is sold as multiplatform software, which means it can be installed on either Mac OS X or Windows.

From the FAQ

I had a play and demo of Lightroom 4 at the FOI show yesterday, it was pretty good especially highlight and shadow recovery, a fair bit better than 3.

The book creation and GPS features were being pushed as selling points but I don't need those features atm. I will probably upgrade my version today but will use the trial option first as I've seen people saying that it was slower than 3 so I want to use it on my own machine first... for £59 as an upgrade though it seems like good value.

I have just been going back through some old stuff, and it is indeed very good.

Just found out that my NAPP membership will save me £10 on the update price:)

Slightly off topic but I was looking at the NAPP membership last week, and $99 seemed pretty good. How would you rate the membership and what you get for it. I'm spending more time in Photoshop etc these days and think it may be handy.

I remember this picture, have you got a before and after of the changes with the new version?

I'm still undecided on wether to switch to Lightroom.
I think I'll wait and see what Apple does with the next release of Aperture, if they seem to be taking a less professional route than Adobe, I think I'll make the switch.

I'm really pleased with it, the magazine's very good and so are the tutorials online. I decided to go for the digital version rather than print plus the offer I went with gave me all last years issues.

I've already got some of the money back in effect by using the 25% discount on photomatix.

When you convert the processing from LR3 to LR4, they don't convert exactly, you need to up the exposure with the LR4.
Below is my best estimation between the two in terms of my style of processing.
I use allot of the files DR, and in LR3, images could look a little flat and 'grey', but in LR4 they have a more natural look...
