Lila Connect - VX Fibre 1gig - Stoke on Trent

Saw this. While good, a lot of people wont have the hardware, not just router, to support this. I'd need a new switch, new network card in PC and other hardware.
Annoyingly the 3 main PCs in my house have 2.5Gbps NICs, but I only have a 24 port gig switch. I could have just bought a 5 port 2.5Gbps switch to go directly to the router. I'm already a gig customer so doesn't look like I could anyway :(

Anyone here had issues with the Lila supplied router and Ring devices? I can't get any live view and they disconnect pretty much constantly from the Lila router but signal strength shows as good

Hi all, so finally after almost 3 years I've moved back to a stoke area with Lila connect,
and can see so much has changed with lila.
Lila are there own internet service provider finally! And they offer a free router, is it any good? Or Bog basic trash?
Also is cgnat still a thing with them or is it resolved some what these days? And nice to see @The1nonly1 is still knocking about this forum,

haha yes I'm still around and still with Lila, but direct with them as the ISP now as the undercut everyone else and priced the 3rd parties out.

I use my own router, so can't comment on theirs as I've never used it but it does have WiFi 6 so for general use, it may be okay. I've recently moved to using Opnsense as my router/firewall with a TP Link EAP650 wireless access point. I was using two Asus RT-AC86u, one as router and the other as access point in a mesh configuration.

Yes CGNAT is still what they use on all packages apart from what they call the gaming package which is just the Gigabit one with static IP address for £5 extra.

Hi, and yes went for gaming package for the static ip, shame you can't get it with the 2.5gb service. and like your self I always use my own gear and just upgraded to the new asus rog rapture GT-BE98 to go with this service.

It's superb and very fast.
You get an email with any outage but they are usually 1am in the morning.
Thanks for reply, 1am in the morning that's funny as I'm sure we'll all be looking out for there email at that time:cry::cry:
I've decided I'm gonna keep there router as back up, and as said above I've purchased the new asus rog rapture GT-BE98 which is overkill but should keep me future proofed for a good few years at least. You never know if they up the service to 2.5gbps or even 10gbps with static ip I'm ready:)

You'll get an email a few days in advance but the work is always early in the morning

Hi, does anyone know the earliest, a Lila installation engineer starts, as I'm booked in for tomorrow 29/11 and I've received no email today confirming a time slot for tomorrow, and I'm not currently living at the install address as we are still moving our stuff, to our new property.

Hi all,
just some information I've acquired from the Lila(freedom fibre) installation engineer, which is apparently vx fibre who owned Lila went bankrupt in the UK, after blowing a ton of money infrastructure on the installation of there fibre network as such Lila has been sold off to freedom fibre, and the rebranding will be happening over the next coming year. What I don't know is how that will affect current customers, one assumes for those in a current contract, that nothing will change as in cost per month or the internet speed you have chosen for your package.

Apologies if this is common knowledge.

I hadn't heard of any of this and hadn't seen it reported anywhere. It would explain why some areas are still waiting. Good to know though.

Been on the Freedom Fiber website and you can order pakcages through them, branded as Lila connect, for the same prices.

Yeah tbh I was surprised in hearing this myself, as I was loosely aware Lila had expanded into other areas of stoke on Trent. But if thats stopped as you say The1nonly1, that would explain a few things.....

Anyway can't fault my connection speed 950mbps each way and the Asus Rog GT-BE98 is a beast of router, with its quad band WiFi getting 700mb at the end of our garden on wifi 6e. Can't test wifi7 don't have a device as yet that supports it.

I think I might end up leaving, yes the upload speeds are good but £6 to avoid NAT is a pain and a bit too much. I'm still on the £30 for 1gig plan which isn't too bad but VM 1gig plan for £21 is mighty tempting. Yes the upload speed is good but never come close to fully utilising it on my current line.

Hopefully Openreach come around quick with their FTTP
