'Limited' Edition Games

This :)
I've currently got the Assassins Creed 2 Black Edition pre ordered (£69.99) and the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition pre ordered (£119.99) and I'll no doubt be left underwhelmed by both but it's my money which I work bloody hard for so I'm entitled to spend it on what I want :)

£120 for one game ?

Buy some proper ones instead of Fisherprice rebranded ones?

Can't believe people are actually going to buy that ****.

You spent £100+ on a joystick and some parts. How useful is that gonna be when you are lost at night in the jungles of Outer Borneo?

The guy from fourzerotwo said on Gametrailers that the MW2 Prestige Edition is actually limited in quantity and are numbered. Didn't say how many though so it could be hundreds of thousands for all I know, but he did say they are limited and not "limited as in when they run out they make some more", to vaguely quote him.

The only one I really, really regret is paying £60 for the Assassin's Creed one. :(:(:(

Why I did I will never know, I don't often buy collectors editions either. All my mates bought it and I got carried away in the hype.

Worthwhile ones have been:

World of Warcraft Burning Crusade + Wrath of the Lich King (Really well made)
FFVII: Crisis Core (Nice little box and hardback artwork book)

The only special edition game I buy need to have some justification. I bought the steelbook of F.E.A.R. 2 as it came with the original, which I hadn't played either. I also pre-ordered Forza 3 for the pre-order and limited edition only special car packs, and the 2gb flash drive included in the box.

Ah classic rp :)

I have bought a few limited/collector's editions in the past, but only when they were reasonably priced. I guess I just like having the little bit of extra memorabilia.

Shows how times have changed. I remember buying Ultima 8, the "normal" version, back in the day. Don't think there were LE or CE editions of games back then. It came with a huge manual, a large, real cloth map of the game, and a metal coin of the game realm.

Depends I mostly fall for CE/LE when they offer good in-game items and if it's not to badly priced.

I did buy the holo Legendary edition heh

Apart from that I important SWG CE from the states and its the best special edt I have bought. Nice big strong box, Artwork book, small figure, Badge and 3 pair of cool looking goggles to wear in game. It only cost me around £45-50 in total including getting it shipped over.

I do buy the odd CE/LE of a game if it's something I'm really interested in/cheap/has some good content. I haven't bought many, but I did buy the Halo 3 "Cat helmet: Edition" which is cool to use as a display and a safety helmet for my cat? O.o

I was wondering how much of the extra money goes to the developer as well, as I like to see it as a little extra for the game developer :)

Not fussed at all by the limited editions.

In fact, I don't think I bought a single limited edition game for the Xbox 360 or the PS3. The only thing that would tempt be would be gameplay, like additional levels e.t.c.

Edit :- Saying that I've just pre-ordered Forza 3 Limited Edition for the extra content :)

You loser! :p

  • Assassins Creed Tin
  • Street Fighter TE Arcade stick
  • Killzone 2 steelbook
  • MGS4 CE with Snake figurine

They're the only collector editions I've bought and the Killzone 2 steelbook was the same price as the regular game :p
