Liquid Art: From Mini P180 to infinity...

Someone did mention Mushkin ram but i'm failing to see how that would screw into the block?

It's just a shame 1.5v corsair dom's are so hard to find...

Incoming update coming soon....

:)

Love this build log was reading down and thought its missing some intel goodness ;)

One idea though get a micro atx mobo to support sli then go watercooled sli in micro ATX thats would be epic

i want to do that next micro power house but for now my next task..... 3930k 670 tri sli

I resisted so hard, believe me.. i just wanted to keep to amd for aslong as i could while it was still good and did all i wanted but i want more juice. Recently started to notice some poor performance with some programs and specifically in games where my gpu doesn't get used to it's fullest extent which really annoys me when i've spent over £500 on the thing!

Jay, i love how at the top of this page you mention you're going to leave this alone for the forseeable future, after that update there's been three further upgrades/adjustments to your rig!

Regretably i've now upgraded from my P180-Mini!

Haha i know i know, can't help myself like i've said above. I wanted to get rid of the case but i'm attached and i think it still has a lot of potental to be a better case with some modifications. Still need to get a dremel so i can modify the front bezzel and cut the roof off to replace with plexi.

what's it like moving from your Mini P180? Do you miss it? ;)

Intel i5 3570K upgrade:

Completed my build yesterday in under 4 hours, not bad to say i spent half that time draining and redoing the loop...

New components include:

Intel i5 3570K
MSI Z77MA-G45 board
EK LGA115X TRUE back plate (must have for those with any block!)

Sorry for the poor quality pics, was taken quite late last night when i finished.

More pics to come with the SLR camera.

Here are my overclock temps at 4.4ghz

And finally Heaven 3.0 run at overclocked settings as per signature spec:

Would be really cool if you could post your temps again now you have an i5. Just to clarify you have 3x120mm radiators right?

Oh and very nice build :D

And yes i am, running 3 x 120 rads, works a treat provided you have enough pressure in the loop i.e. a good pump. I find running a DDC 10w pump is more than enough for something like this.

Can't wait to get cracking on with some modding tomorrow!

Going to first mod the front of the case to allow for more airflow...

IMG_1502.jpg

Then if i feel confident enough i will modify the top of the case roof to enable a 240 radiator to sit there instead of the beefy 120 :)

Did you notice an FPS increase when you jumped to the i5?

There was a definite increase in fps a majority of games however it's not really about that. What was important was the minimum frame rates had increased substantially giving me an overall much smoother gaming experience compared to my old phenom II.

Update:

Got all my bits and bobs today for the case mods to start. Firstly i'm going to start off light and by light i mean making a new case window.

Got myself a new sheet of plexi, cost £10 for half a metre square! It's my first time with the dremel so i was a little shakey but non the less i cracked on and managed to do an okay job on it.

My idea is to cut out the EK sign onto the plexi itself, i started out by cutting the window which obviously was the easy part... then came cutting the EK sign out... i have to say its much much harder than it looks :(. Shattered around 4 cutters (was going to get the reinforced ones but i ran out of time today). Also had to grind down a cutter so i could get inbetween the smaller gaps.

Will finish it off over the weekend probably and begin the sanding process to get rid of the rough edges. The dremel does come in handy aswel when it comes to smoothing off the rough edges.

jay that looks amazing. i'm totally gonna rip off your colour scheme with those black pipes. Just Awesome

Thanks mate, i've changed the colour scheme again. Im using xspc white tubing. I got bored of the black :(.

Will post pics of the updates soon when i get my Corsair Dominator Platinum Ram :d

Is there no way of turning it off? I thought there maybe a utility to switch it on and off etc.

Jeci: did you overclock your ram manually or via XMP?

Gonna have a look at corsairs website.

Good to see some love for the Mini P180 is still around. ;)

Can't believe I have had mine for over 3 years and 6 months, still looks good as new! :D

Love the side panel window, did removing the noise insulation make any difference?

And i think i will be keeping mine for some time to come yet, it's a really good case.. very sturdy and easy to mod.

It didn't make that much of a difference no, it's a sacrifice but it's worth it.

I was amazed with how much watercooling you can actually fit in this case.. i dont think antec intended it at all but it all fits in snuggly and with some modding i think you can squeeze a 200mm radiator up top instead of the 120mm i have now.

Have you got the white or black version?

Currently set to XMP profile running at 1600mhz but i'm waiting for 8pack to come on to help me configure it for a much higher clock speed profile :D

Jay.....Not much I can say but mmmmmmm tasty. Very impressed.

Subbed - curious how you get on with this.

I'm saving on a new motherboard at the moment. Got my eye set on a Asus Gene but may go for something different if i swap cases.. which i haven't decided yet because i have just seen the post about the new 900D by corsair

I haven't posted up the new pictures with the white tubing yet and the white fans all in so i will get those up soon for you to feast on.

I'm also still after a white GPU waterblock to go with the theme but struggling for one as EK only seem to do them for previoud gen stuff.

Why did you remove the 200mm exhaust and place the rad there?

I didn't fancy the rad being put on the rear of the case so i decided to remove the top 200mm fan which was quite noisy and placed a much quieter solution in it's place. So far it's been good, temps don't seem to have changed much and i still have a rear fan for exhaust. It keeps my cpu at around 58c with the 4.5ghz overclock.

If i could i would fit a 140mm rad up there instead but im afraid it gets in the way of the memory and the motherboard heatspreaders located at the top.

You could have replaced the 200mm with a better one as we all know antec fans are not great ;)

But I really love you build m8 it looks sweet.

Yea i did think about replacing it but in the end i decided to go full watercooled, just seemed the way to go.

Im actually looking at a arc mini now to fit this lot in... 2x 240mm rads sounds like a lot of cooling potential doesn't it :).

What do you think to the fractal arc mini?
