lite beers... why don't we have them in our pubs?

I have tasted it, all it tasted like was fizzy water with a few chemicals thrown in, i expected it to be refreshing but it was just horrible, it tasted nothing like beer. A waste of 2 quid.
It's worse than budweiser, how people can drink these chemically, watery, american beers is beyond me.

everyone's different, in the summer i prefer a cheap American beer to any bitter or ale, dunno why, hell i even enjoy a larger shandy on a hot summers day, come the winter i get into the black stuff and ales. seasonal drinker does not make you less of a man or drinker - what the frigs up with people on here

Or for some women

Jimlad, because real men drink normal beer not watered down stuff.
Drinking light beer is like drinking pink lemonade

I'm struggling to see the joke here, so I'm assuming you're serious. This place is riddled with homophobia and small-mindedness. I'm off to stick something up my bum.

Probably there is no demand for light beer, just think, why would they not sell them if a lot of people wanted to buy them, bussinesses do not work this way.

Sorry, but Coors Light is a very nice lager. 5% ABV as well. I'm guessing most of the people saying it's rubbish haven't tried it. It's certainly better than other US crap like awful dishwater Budweiser.

Do you not find it slightly ironic defending the taste of a lager you like while slating another that many people drink?

For the little it matters I have tried it more than once, one of the two local student unions serves it and despite drinking it on various occasions it never gets better, it's just passable as a cheap lager. I drink it as I would drink Budweiser or Miller, when options are very limited or I want something bland and inoffensive, other than that it ranks way down the list of beer that I'd choose to drink given free rein.

At no point in my post did I say it was for homosexual people; I simply said it's for the same sort of people that drink pink lemonade (as I have a friend who drinks both ...)

Why you'd want to drink terrible american 'lite' lagers when there's an amazing array of ales available in almost every pub in this country astounds me.

I suspect you don't actually like beer but don't have the courage to drink chickfizz. :P

OT, but - I've never understood why it's called homophobia and not homosexism... If I were to make a joke at the expense of gay people it doesn't mean I have a fear of them, irrational or otherwise.

Or he doesn't like Ales.

Not everyone loves them you know :p I do, but I also love my lagers...Wellm not the ones over here anyway.

It wasn't that long ago that anyone drinking lager instead of beer was gay, now nearly everyone drinks it. :p

I'd be interested in seeing how many people would notice the difference in taste if companies started slowly reducing strength of UK lagers. Say down from 5% to 2.5%.

It would also be interesting to see how many people would still act drunk when given a pint with no alcoholic content. I swear some the chavs round here just have to hold a pint before they start acting like muppets.

Why do so many Brits seem to enjoy drinking beers like Coors Light and Budweiser? They even pay a premium for them :/

They are CRAP!!

The only reason we drink them in the States is because they sell them in 18-24 packs for dirt cheap.

America does have some decent mass produced lagers such as Sam Adams and Michelob. (of course the micro-breweries are awesome as they are everywhere)

In fact, Sam Adams on tap is pretty darned good
