I agree. I tried MSN as I wanted to have sign on to more than one PC. Binned it after 10 mins and went back to Pidgin. Shame really.

Do you have any problems with people adding you to contacts on Pidgin?

I remember having some small issues with that a few years back, but been fine ever since. Strange one.

Uninstall it and install the old version, simples.

The new one is sooooo crap imo.

the new one would be fine for me if it didn't progressively get laggy...

although, i may have found a fix for it bugging out after a bit of usage; if you use windows security essentials (or apparently avg as well), just add the messenger directory to scan exceptions and it should stay ticking along

I've had enough of the MSN client as well. I want something that proxies my MSN traffic into IRC. That would be awesome.

Could try Miranda IM. It doesn't do what you ask but it is a tiny client. (uses under 10mb of memory in full use) and handles IRC and MSN and many others.

I upgraded and really didn't like it. So switched to Trillian. New MSN is bloated, ugly, a mess really.

its fine once you have fixed the settings... and figure out yourself how to remove facebook. I've never had it crash or freeze.

Only thing i dont like is the revamp of emoticons

Plus then aPatch it too. Still uses a bum load of memory for no reason. Un-optimised carp really.

I hate the way it makes you use your full name instead of a nick name. Also the way it's trying to force Windows Live profiles (or whatever they're called) in your face. Why can't MS just accept that facebook beat them in the social networking game?

Could someone host the setup file for the previous version pls?

Why micro$ called it an important update and not optional I do not know, well I do, so it got installed by lots of users on auto update.

Mine will sit there in the update tray until I can get rid of it. Never installed.

I was using an older version, right up until I started geting random tabs opening in firefox pestering me to upgrade, so now, no msn at all, and I've gone back to trillian.

I'm now giving WLM 8.5 a try again as I feel it was the last time WLM was any good.
