Liverpool or Arsenal tonight? **SPOILERS**

I dont think it was because Arsenal were appalling it was more because they were really really bland. There was no creativity no motivation. As good as Henry is hes no leader. Still missing Vieira!!!!!

Dissapointing match really. Fast paced but scrappy, lots of poor passing but some flare and fancy footwork as well.
Thought 'pool deserved the win as it was mostly them applying the pressure.

Teams dominating football are cyclical, as Arsenal and Man Utd are finding out now. The 70's and 80's belonged to Liverpool, the 90's Man Utd, the first half of the 00s to Arsenal and now it's Chelsea's turn.

the first half of the 00s, Man Utd won the Premiership 3 times 2000, 2001, 2003 and the F.A. Cup once in 2004.

Arsenal won the Premiership 2 times 2002, 2004 and the F.A. Cup 3 times in 2002, 2003, 2005.

I would say that was pretty even considering the Premiership holds more weight. Although Arsenal did play the better football of the two teams. ;)

We've still won more Premiership titles this decade than any other team even though they were years ago :(

Made me laugh when a couple of months back Wenger said there was no replacement to Vieira and then you see Sissoko tonight and all season for that matter. There so similar its scary.

We played well from the start, only thing we lack are goals, luckily we got lucky last night and found the net, unlike when we played Chelsea, we played well in that game too, but could'nt find the net, but they did, and thats what counts. :)

I was at the game last night and from where I was the passing and controlling was pretty awful on both sides. We dominated the match though and it was just a case of not being able to finish (or score from the spot  ) that let us down. TBH from the terraces the attempts at control on both sides made it look like an old slapstick style football that should have been shown in black and white with plinky plonky music.

Just as I expected we were totally overrun in midfield and it cost us the match. Three of our four midfielders last night are probably in the worse form of their life so that makes things even more worse for us. Having Ade flagged for offside when he went around the keeper didn't help, just like against Chelsea a big decision goes against us. could have changed the match that decision but we just aren't getting the rub of the green.

Wenger was crazy for allowing us to go into the season with only three CMs and all three are not exactly top quality. Fabregas will become a great player but he isn't one now and you can't expect an 18 year old to hold your midfield together. We have let Edu, Parlour and Vieira go in past seasons which were all CMs for us who did a good job and didn't bring a single proven player in which is criminal at this level. Even if we didnt bring in a top class midfielder in the summer we should have bought a couple solid ones to at least help us through. Diaby looks a very promising player but it is too early to say whether he will go on to become a great player. If Wenger doesn't bring in at least 3 proven players this summer then we will be fighting for 4th place again next season.

Great to see Kolo back and in good form, he had a poor season last year but has been quality this season for us. Jens also yet again top quality. People will rubbish my comments because of his past reputation but I doubt there have been many keepers better than him from when he was bought back into the team about a year or so ago upto now.

Sorry to say mate but Sissoko isn't fit to lace his boots, comparing one of the great midfielders to an above average one here.......

Vieira was an average player for the last couple of years. As for you to call Sissoko average is rich considering he stopped this "great attacking" side of Arsenal creating anything and he has only just turned 21.

If one recalls Veira back when he was Sissoko age, they are very alike and one has to remember, he's got great potential and give him another few years like Arsenal gave Veira, you will see why he is rated so highly for the future.

Sad thing about Veira is, he's at the stage/age were things start to decline.

All I can say is, we have a player who will be a major asset and for the future of our club. My mate who's a gunner wishes he had Sissoko at the club right now. Wasn't Arsenal one of the clubs trying to steal him from us?

That great Arsenal attacking side which you talk of is long gone, me and every other sane gooner will tell you the same. You are right in the past two seasons Vieira wasn't as good as was before but he certainly was still far better than Sissoko. Even your inspirational captain admitted himself Vieira had mostly got the better of him whenever they came head to head.

Oh and getting the better of our midfield is nothing to be proud of anymore, if anything you should be ashamed when you dont ;)

I'm not saying he is a bad player but I don't think he will ever become the kind of player Vieira was. Gerrard will do well to reach that kind of level let alone Sissoko. That was a few years back, I remember the 2-2 at Anfield 3 years ago when Vieira had the whole Liverpool midfield in his back pocket in that first half, it was an absoulte storming first half he had then and with a knee injury on top of that. Even during the unbeaten season the decline could be seen but I hear he is doing ok in Italy so maybe he just needed a change. Not as much box to box as he used to be.

Don't know if we did try to buy him but I think there are other players who have shown more promise than him and look more in the Vieira mould.

Too early to be 100% sure on how good Sissoko will be,but so far its all looking good.I know he can still be a rash at times, but he's improved that part of his game a great deal since the start of the season and he's now much more composed than he was - and thats just in a few months. The comparison with Vieira is prob a bit premature, but he does play and move exactly like he used to,more so than Arsenals own 'new' Vieira -Diaby imo

Diaby has a long way to go yet as well, he seems to be quite good in attack but in defence he has a lot to learn yet. The thing with Vieira was he was good enough to be in our side just due to his defending or he could get into the team just based on how good he was in attack. To be so good in both roles was what made him great, same as Keane really. They were the driving force in attack as well as being the last man in defence. I reckon they could play off the strikers or play in CB and not have problems in either role. However players like Gerrard/Lampard are more attacking players who help out in defence.

You know, for years, through watching countless games, reading just as many teamsheets, and playing hours on end of Champ Man, I was sure his name was spelt Viera. Then, a few years ago (corrected on here by G14 I think ;)), I realised it wasn't, and I couldn't for the life of me work out how I'd ever missed it. It's always been spelt Vieira, and yet somehow I'd never noticed. :o
