Living Room with in-wall 7.1.4 and PJ

looks great Dan , i had a booster but didn't really rate it , i ended up just getting a better HDMI and it was fine

I've got a few plans

the 20 foot long cable is a good HDMI cable and will work 4k over it's length.

Will try a 0.9m HDMI extension cable and remove having need for the HDMI plate and use a brush/fur plate instead
Before that arrives I have a 0.3m HDMI cable that I will try with the plate

If both of these things fail, the pro will bring an active HDMI booster to see if it helps.

Worst case scenario I need to cut into the wall, undo the tape the electrician left the cables taped with to give it a good amount of slack to go direct into AVR

But also have Cat7 in wall so could use that too.

Buying all new HDMI cables, I have an assortment - and some that are supposed to be 4k - only took a 1080p signal from UHD to AVR, tried another cable and it's 4k...

So to avoid issues across the board getting a decent set of HDMI cables

Today a few things did get wired up, but still no mains electricity for the lounge until tomorrow. The outdoor lights got installed, so that’s nice! Also our sideboard arrived, and Louise has been stripping it down so that it can be stained and varnished in a darker colour.

The sideboard will go behind the sofa, not block the centre speaker!

I do need some storage for my blu rays, they aren't going to fit nicely in this sideboard :( so I need something of my own - and they cannot be on display!

so will the professional calibration give you some additional feedback on echos/reverberation (maybe not the right technical term) inside the room
for future optimisation of acoustic surfaces ? ( I had a look at your ARC calibration and did not seem to mention these artefacts. )

I know he has a well trained ear and as a friend he will tell me anything I need to know to get the most out of it (obviously I'm not about to lay down carpet), but reasonable things. I don't know how he does his job though, personally I just run ARC, but I'm sure it will be more involved and interesting! There will also be the projector calibration too, picture colour/settings and making sure I get the right picture sizes across formats and equipment.

Currently I'm not sure myself how to set it up on a 2.35:1 screen!

Dan , i have a JVC X500 and considered getting it professionally calibrated , but because of the nature of bulbs i decided against it , so i just bought a light meter .

what do you mean unsure how to set up a 2.35.1 screen mate ?
