Living Room with in-wall 7.1.4 and PJ

Looks really good, love that colour on the walls and ceilings.

A couple of big thick rugs will help a bit with the sound. Personally though I would have added some ceiling clouds and sound treatments to the walls, maybe ones disguised as pictures or art work.

I have spent a lot of money upgrading my system, I'm running the Anthem MRX 720 but with 7 channels of power amps, the biggest improvement was room treatment, ARC is great but nothing will get anywhere near a fully treated room.

Amazing!

People need to stop being negative about the room, for a living room I think this is a stunning compromise!

A couple of rugs will be great, also don’t know if you’ve considered but you can get canvas prints that are effectively stuffed with acoustic material that look like normal lounge decoration.

Even your sofa and other soft furnishings will help :)

This is the front, you can see a large bass trap on top of the subwoofer to the left. I don't have pictures of the back though. Theres proper panels and a ceiling cloud. edit, found a pic.

Here's the ceiling cloud, there's another pair of speakers behind the cover at the back is a larhe bass trap with another set of Atmos speakers.

Yes looked into companies who will print your photos onto acoustic panels. I'm heavily into photography so I've got my own stuff that could go on the walls.

Got some prices but open to suggestions as it's hard to find companies who do this.

Any choices have to be aesthetically pleasing though............

Dear lord but it's ugly! Ok(ish) in a cinema room but a lounge never!

I'll admit it's ugly, which is why I'm never keen to show it off. I've considered removing some and doing measurements to see if I can get away with removing a little.

It does sound good though, just wish I had a much larger room, sadly that upgrade would be the most expensive.

Surely any benefit of those hideous panels are negated by having floorstanders stuffed into a tiny space like that, without any clearance between the wall...

Luckily they are transmission line, so they didn't change much being closer the the wall then a foot or so away. I have had to add some extra stuffing into them to lower the bass a little. I'm also using DSP to further correct them. The large bass traps made a measurable difference too.

The electrician was meant to be in last Friday, waiting means we cannot finish painting the room, including major ceiling touch ups. However we do have furniture arriving as we’ve had stuff on order a while and we need it in time for the party next weekend.

So when the electrician finally does arrive, hopefully Wednesday (but I will not hold my breath), and when we do have to do the final touch ups – it will be in a room with furniture – which isn’t ideal. Nevermind.

Anyway.. the lamp, it’s got tripod legs. I like it very much.
