Logitech G19 announced

The LCD is very handy and glad i have one but for the £50 odd i paid that was enough, the cost of this just for a colour screen that i cant see is needed seems kinda silly.

the geek in me is quite taken by that pic

Indeed. i drooled when i saw it. I like shiny things:).

I have a g15 v2 and i love it. i never use the g keys at all. I do have everest ultimate edition and to be able to display all your system temps, voltages, fan speeds is great. I built my pc myself and i always think its gonna break:p so having the readout is piece of mind to me

That screen is completely pointless, who is going to honestly want to look down and squint at that tiny thing whilst they're playing a game?

so so so tempted!!
*thinks of bank balance...must resist*

I think if il wait untill I see a couple of reviews

I don't understand what the benefit is of having a gaming Keyboard, anyone care to shed some light?

its mainly a gimmick to sell keyboards to the l33t.
Main selling points behind them are their Macro keys allowing you to program sequences and shizzle in them,
also usually light up in pretty colours making gamers automatically want them.
Oh and lower lag times apparently etc.
and I reckon that my G11 is much more solid in construction that previous keyboards I've used.. apart from an old IBM one which you could actually kill someone with
:p

To be honest unless there's some other major benefits apart from the colour LCD I can't really see it being worth it - you might as well just plug in a secondary monitor and use that (even something out of a skip will be bigger and higher resolution).

I use a G15rev1 (deliberately bought just as the rev2 was coming out, as I wanted the volume dial and blue backlight) and basically just use the panel to monitor my cpu/ram usage. I quite like it but don't really see the need for having a mini colour display in there.

As for the G1-18 macro keys on the left hand side, I literally haven't used them at all.

same

re

as long as the keyboard has backlight keys i dont care, you can have the best keyboard in the world..it dont matter its down to your own skill level,i have a g11 which i got for free,it also works just as good as my old 2002 keyboard before it;)

Am I the only one who thinks these look cheap and aren't stylish at all... hmm...

The irony is, the things I like about my G15 aren't really gaming specific:

-The volume jog-wheel
-The sexy blue backlight
-The little screen letting me monitor cpu/ram usage while running fullscreen apps
-The fact that it's USB (all my other keyboards have been serial or ps2 and had problems when pressing certain key combinations)
-The inbuilt hub lets me plug my mouse in to save USB ports (although the fact it is only USB1.1 is pretty annoying)

Until now I've never spent more than about a fiver on a keyboard so those features were all new to me.

Just spotted the USB ports on mine didnt relise I had them.
Im in the same bpat as well I mostly use mine to display what Im currently listening to when I switch my moniters off to read a book or mag
