anyone know if micro$oft still sell their force feedback wheel + pedals , and where you can obtain one from ?
Don't think they do, but there are some very good wheels out there these days such as the Logitech Momo or the Driving Force Pro.

yeah i know, m8s after that specific msoft wheel and pedals, doesnt want the clutch thingy etc.

cheers tho

Those wheels don't have clutch, though I'm sure you'd be able to get the MS wheel for a decent price and condition second hand.

Yes, looks very nice but can any games make use of the clutch ?
Also it looks to me that the gear stick is a seperate unit, so presumably you can have it on the right or left of the wheel ?

All of the proper sim games that I've played have had full clutch control, including:
Live for Speed
GTR
GTR 2
GT Legends
Richard Burns Rally

Yeah, it looks like the shifter is separate, which is good.

Don't know about the rest of you but I always seem to use auto gearbox in any car games I've played - maybe that would change if I had a clutch pedal though ?

wheel looks nice but hasn't the PC racing scene died

only "realistic" game i can think off is Toca3

and the rest are just arcade type racing games

TOCA3 is by no means a proper sim game compared to GTR, GT Legends, Live for Speed, GTR2, Richard Burns Rally and rFactor, to name a few, it's more of a compromise between the two I'd say. Though I guess it'll depend on your definition of what "realisitic" is.

We've got GTR2 and Live for Speed S3 to look forward to, as as plenty of others that I don't know about.

i dont have rally driving experience but i know richard burns rally is a good simulator.

the hardness of the game speaks for it self, i found the driving school was big help. but keyboard just isnt enough for this game.

Racesimcentral has 83,000 members. There are more independantly produced, hardcore racing sims than ever before. There are more commercial sims than ever before. iRacing plans on taking sim racing further towards being a sport.

There are at least five companies producing steering/pedal devices and equipment that can cost more than a real car. And one company makes a $30,000 motion simulator which you can buy if you want to.

Logitech producing this wheel shows that the market is growing. All there previous sim related products were directed at the more casual gamer / racer.

It's actually bigger than it's ever been.

I seriously doubt you'd be able to use the wheel properly on a PS2, even if it did work, though I'm dubious as to if it would actually work. I'd only see a couple of things working, brake, accelerator, wheel and buttons, no clutch, H shifter, so would be a total waste of money if for just PS2 games.

Bah I think Im gonna buy this irrelevant of the cost :( - love racing games, just never really played that many on the PC (other than the TOCA series and a few NfS titles). I think Ive stayed away from race simulator games, just cos I knew I needed a good wheel to make proper use of them at out of all the online type of games I think racing is more full of gentleman than the 5yr kids you get on FPSs/MMORPGs...

I think the wheels more than worth it, since its one of the few things I doubt will really be surpassed in quality at that price point. Though Im concerned that most Logitech wheels usually quite quickly suffer from wear and tear - will wait until I see more reviews from users to decide...

Can you use the gearbox like an auto box for the more arcade racers?!?

ps3ud0
