Logitech Z-5500 Question

Strangely its the pre-amp control pod that gets way hot for me, the heatsink on the sub is always stone cold ! . I generaly have it up between 50% - 70% volume for films. Quite a room shaker ;)

How is the light off in this one?! Or is it off?

Found more info out. Theres 2 versions of the z-5500 speakers, The first version with RCA connection to the sub., and the new version with non RCA connection to the sub and removable speaker wires, like the z-680.

some people on other forums complain of rattling of the subs cos the wires inside tap on the side of the box, and hissing noises cos of the volume pod, I guess logitech will have sorted these problems out with the 2nd version. :D

Heres a pic of back of speakers and sub of the new version

It's really exciting isn't it? I got mine at Xmas (the 2nd version with speaker cables) and couldn't wait to get it up and running. What a set of speakers :D.

Another thing, reviews show the pod with a black bg and light text! I REALLLY would love that. But current ones are white bg and blue text :(

Anyone seen any mods for this? Would be awesome inverted.

I had mine delivered from OcUK on Saturday they are the 2nd ones with the separate speaker wires, highly recommend these speakers. on a separate note is it Worth upgrading my sound card. I currently have a bulk standard soundblaster audigy 2 card ?

well when I get these speakers, I will need a new sound card, cos the list time I tried 5.1 setting on my onbord Realtek AC'97, the sub socket on the pc disables its self for hl2, cm4 and maybe more games. I spent hours trying to get the sub working in these games, but gave up in the end and went back to my 4.1 which the sub works from the speakers  Im gonna get a "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 7.1 EAX Sound Card", might buy it at the same time or later on.

This is a pic of how Im going to have the speakers set up, and by the way the speakers are about a inch higher then the light switch and pointing towards me, with the sub on the floor of course.

Thats the reason I need a extension cable, but I might start of with placing the pod at the end of the desk by the wall.

Under my desk to the right of me is a cupboard where my pc goes in, then 2 draws by the side of that, so cant have the sub under my desk.

Plus cos Im not sitting in the centre of the room, I will have to make the right speakers louder or left speakers quieter, and make the rear speakers louder or front speakers quieter.

What you think guys,,Good or bad set up?

A good function on the logis is the positioning of read and centre,

caa make rears louder/queiter to your needs and the centre spread over the 3 front speakers or just on the main speaker. Not really sure about creatives software (soundcard) for the left right changes.

The clarity of an audigy2 over onboard is quite something *I really need to get a soundcard here xD*
