lol tvlicensing

If everyone is misunderstanding you, it suggests the fault is at the source.

Well it's not everyone for one, and the people who are misunderstanding me are claiming I've said things I didn't because they haven't read my posts properly, or taken a response to something else out of context.

Only in the UK would a licence be required to watch TV! It's a con and should be scrapped to force all channels to make their own money and not have to work for it off a grant.

Put all the letters in the bin (Unopened)

If you are in when they call again do not open the door, If you do open the door First establish who the person is, Once you know it is TVL close and lock the door without saying a word.

Do not contact then at all by any means, In person, by Phone, Email Etc.

7 year's licence free for me.

Do not fund the BBC Pedo ring cancel Yr direct debits Tonight.

That is the latest amount that has accrued (Under 5 years worth at this current address), less around 7 Special Delivery they sent that I did not go to the Post Office to sign for, they did get me once with that trick though but even then I did not sign for it when I saw what it was and left it there, now I just ignore any unsolicited Special Deliveries.

I would package them all up and send them back, with a single 2nd class stamp on it. :D

A little question on this.

If one watches TV live on a mobile phone using a live streaming service one is required to hold a TV licence.

If one watches TV at someone else's house one doesn't require a TV licence. What about watching TV on a mobile phone at someone else's licensed premises?

I would expect the licensed premises that you are at supersedes that though.

They were trying to get students over it because they were using their laptops to watch TV whilst living at student accommodation.

The clause of having to be powered by its own internal batteries is ridiculous and quite arbitrary, as in essence according to the license terms, you have to cease viewing the broadcast if you want to charge the battery up.

Why not avoid having to worry about who is at the door or who sent that special delivery letter and just pay the licence fee?

For the sake of a few quid per month it isn't worth not paying. I haven't got the time nor the inclination to scurry about curtain-twitching and working out what mail not to open.

You're implying it's a lot of work. Have you read the thread?

Some one comes to your door from TVL, don't talk to them and close the door.

Get a letter by special delivery that you aren't expecting, decline it.

You're also making the assumption that they only hassle people who are watching TV without a license.

They hassle people who don't watch TV or even have a TV and will continue harassing them over it.

Should those people also just buy a TV license to make it go away?

Because then they would be forcing me (Through harassment and threats) to pay for something I DO NOT NEED.

It's the whole principal behind the matter which gets peoples backs up. The fact that they're automatically assuming you're using that service and using threatening behaviour is what makes people get their defences up and dig their heels even deeper into the pile of **** that has already been thrown at them and to get a grip in preparation for the bigger pile of **** that is yet to come at them.

BTW. NO I AM NOT GOING TO TELL THEM WHO LIVES HERE AND TELL THEM I DO NOT WATCH TV TV SO THEY CAN SEND SOME MONKEY AROUND TO INSPECT MY FLAT AND BROWSE ALL OF MY PC CHECKING COOKIES/BROWSING HISTORY AND ****

You are under absolutely no obligation to let any of there inspectors in. I phoned them and informed that I don't require a TV license as I don't own a TV or watch live broadcasts. I said I was informing them of this because I didn't want any letters or visits from them.

They said they needed to send someone round to verify that this was true. I told them I didn't want any inspectors coming round because i've read stories on the internet about innocent people being harassed and false accusations being made by license inspectors. I then informed them that I was removing there assumed right of access to my property. They told me that I didn't have to let the inspector in, all they wanted was my signature but again I said i'm under no obligation to sign any documents nor was I willing to and I didn't want any visits whatsoever.

Haven't had anymore letters or visits. Thing is if you remove there assumed right of access there's nothing they can do as you'r under no obligation to prove your innocence and if they still visit you they will be guilty of trespassing and harassment. If you don't contact them they will just keep sending you the letters and inspectors round.

One final word of advice never ever sign anything from them as you could be incriminating yourself. Dodgy license inspectors really have tricked people into signing false confessions. If by chance one does turn up this is how to deal with them

I would like to know how many avoid paying the TV licence but use the BBC services.

Probably a large amount especially people whom live on private property (I mean the people who live in what is a field so very private no public access anywhere close)
