How can they get away with this? they do not even know who lives here......
They are presuming I have a TV and making it sound like they are attempting to take me to court when
hYWEy2l.jpg
I have not had a single visit from tvlicensing
They do not know who I am.

although next doors satellite dish is on my part of the balcony which makes it look like I have sky....

I'd laugh if they could tell which balcony was mine and took me to court based on that without noticing the wires goto next door lmfao.........

I find it as backwords as the DLVA or someone assuming I have a car and threatening to take me to court for driving without a license , not owning a car with insurance, no mot or road tax......

BTW. NO I AM NOT GOING TO TELL THEM WHO LIVES HERE AND TELL THEM I DO NOT WATCH TV TV SO THEY CAN SEND SOME MONKEY AROUND TO INSPECT MY FLAT AND BROWSE ALL OF MY PC CHECKING COOKIES/BROWSING HISTORY AND ****

WHAT I LOOK AT ON MY COMPUTER IS MY BUSINESS it's almost like a diary to me

What do they say are 'the only ways to stop this investigation from going any further'?
I guess they can't really start one if they don't know who lives here?

I don't see them getting a warrant from a court with no evidence?

Even if they do it's not a criminal matter and the police are only allowed to keep the peace and not enforce it?

Either way I'm doing nothing wrong unless they count watching on demand movies and on demand programs on my parents skygo account

I was just interested as to what they would list.

Up to you what you do, as you say I don't think they'll be able to force the matter. Just depends how much of this sort of threat you want to put up with. Personally I'd prefer to get it stopped if I could, although I'd not be keen to actually let them in my house to snoop around.
this is the 3rd one of these if I remember right ;) they are worded slightly different but ,mean the exact same thing just this one tries to make it more urgent like they are desperate to know my identity.....

So you've ignored previous letters and now getting in a rant when they are pushing for an answer?

Why not just write them a letter and tell them that you don't have a TV? Why create stress for something that'll take minutes to sort out?
is it illegal not to own or watch live tv?
Is this a police state? because the tv licensing people certainly make it sound like one....

If i write to them they will know who I am and I do not want them to know my identity it is non of there business who I am aslong as I do not own a tv license or need one

As I said they would want to send someone out to check I'm not watching live tv on the pc.
Whilst even IF I were I could just delete the cookies and browsing history or dual boot but disable the dual boot option so it's completely hidden to outsiders. i could even disconnect the hhd for the other os...

I believe you can determine a lot about a persons browsing history and I would rather keep mine like a diary private without feeling like I need to secretly remove it onto a usb stick and put it back after some peon has been and spied around my flatt

How do you propose that you delay a live feed by 10mins without the use of recording that live feed? :p
technically it's not live anyway as there's always a delay as the signals don't move instantly from the broadcast into your tv and if they are passed through a tv cable/sky service usually they are even futher behind.

back when TV's weren't digital anyway I'm guessing it's the same.

You could have 2 Tv's in 2 different rooms with the same program and one would be slightly behind the other and sound like an echo

that was when I lived with my wife before I split up and moved out heress a screenshot of my virgin media account.

look at the date of the first bill and the date of that post.

I'm sure you can find me saying i moved into a flat in January on these forums if you search
Here's my first ever bill and my current bill showing no tv package

BTW the price jumped to £30
because I was on halfprice BB or whatever it was for the first 6 months
BUT NICE TRY DETECTIVE! :p

Also all these people saying "I don't watch TV," does that mean you don't watch TV or you don't watch TV much?

I don't watch live tv which is the only reason you need a tv license.
I find it far more convenient than watching something live and being able to watch it in my own time.

TBH english tv offers me absolutely nothing and most stuff is on youtube anyway...

all the tv series I like are american and it's preferable to find alterantive means of acquiring them like using a vpn to buy the episodes on itunes , amazon etc

breaking bad
dexter
under the dome
falling skies
continuum
game of thrones
true blood
person of interest

ETC half of those probably don't even show on uk tv

if somepone knocks on my door I will happily show them I have no TV or tv package but I will not confirm my identity

I will show them the satellite that appears to be mine is infact next doors and you can see the wires from it go to next door.

It's on my side more than theres because other wise it wouldn't be able to get a signal as a wall would be blocking the direction it needs to point.

I do not believe the amount of people that post on OCUK forums that claim to not have a live TV feed into their house. I simply do not believe it. I don't think I have ever in my life been to someones house and they not had the ability to turn on a television to a live feed. I'm trying to think of one and I can't.

just because you are capable or receiving a live broad cast does not mean you are breaking any laws.
It's only if you watch live TV.

You could argue anyone with a smart phone is capable of watching live tv and there for requires a tv license when they do not.

If you're not paying a TV licence fee, they have a right to ask why.
Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law something which these letters fail to point out and just assume everyone is guilty and treats them like criminals.

Given that you have failed to reply or get in touch with them, obviously they now think that you are not replying as you don't have a licence, and therefore have a right to take you to court to understand the situation. If the court finds that you ought to have done something to remedy the situation (ie getting back in touch) they will probably order you to pay costs.
even the criminal prosecution service won't try to take you to court if they don't think there is enough evidence even if you have been arrested for a crime....

BBC evidence is what?
Does not own tv license...

how is that even comparable?

you know what if i go to court. I am claiming compensation for stress and anxiety issues for the last 6 months.
I will play on my autism like hell and my GP already has me on record as having anxiety problems.

treat them like they treat me.

It means they don't watch live TV. They download everything they watch :D

nothing wrong with that even channel 5 has on demand which comes in handy for watching person of interest :) or did when they had the episodes up still.

the bbc missed a beat they should have teamed up with all the UK channels and had one big on demand service that requires a different possibly cheaper license that only covers on demand.
the profit from this new license could have been distrusted to the other people in the partnership based on view count for their channels content

Yes, in theory you could pay for Sky, never watch it (or record with it), and you would not need a licence.

Owning a TV and associated equipment does not mean you need a licence.

you could have a sky subscription and only use skygo for the on demand stuff :p

If you ever did actually get taken t court you are likely to find it hard to argue that you don't watch live tv yet have a tv subscription

The TV part of my Virgin package is free, it's not there by choice as i phoned them to cancel it a couple of years ago and planned to just use freeview at the time, they chucked me on the free M package and told me to keep the box instead to keep the BB and TV package price down.

They'd have a hard time using my subs in court if i stopped paying the TV license :p

I don't have any virgin tv channels or box at all as seen on my bill on I believe page2 after someone tried to be a detective hoping to catch me out :p
BwvQ5VJ.jpg

so it's clearly possible to have no TV service at all with virgin but it likely would cost them money to remove your free channels and I guess whilst you still have a box theres always the chance you could upgrade again where as if you have no box at all you probably wouldn't miss anything or be tempted

Because about 3mins, 4p and not being a **** will sort everything?
I'm being a **** for not offering up the types of information companies pay for?

are you ****** serious?

have you ever heard of a "data broker"?

I should not be pressured into proving I am not breaking the law.
It is for them to determine I am breaking the law and if they are unable to do that without me giving it to them on a plate then they should stop hassling people and treating them like criminals.

as I said even the CPS don't automatic take you to court unless they have enough evidence to potentially get a conviction and thats even if you have been arrested for a crime!

the BBC get away with bully tactics and threats because loads of people like you are prepared to bend over for them even if you are doing nothing illegal

By the time i have written this post in this thread, I will probably have earned the 40p that one days viewing would have cost me.

I watch a couple of documentaries or series per week, well worth the ~£3.00 in case something comes along that I really want to view live.

my 40p worth.

or
£0.40 * 365.242 = £146.0968
£146 I could have better spend elsewhere.

and those documentaries you watch can likely be watched ondemand somewhere even if it means using a vpn to fake being in America.

alternatively youtube has a massive collection of films, series , documentaries etc

some uploaded by channels such as 4od others uploaded by users and never taken down by youtube.

But the source was from a live broadcast (typically), which is what they say matters. Technically how different is it to recordings? Which according to the licensing terms you require a licence to watch.

That brings up the question of how they look at people watching recordings that they didn't make themselves, for example family members recording shows on to dvd for you.

Not that it really matters, the license is a farce anyway, and personally wouldn't pay it whether I watched broadcast TV or not.

yea don't borrow DVD's to anyone without a TV license! it's stealing!

"If you wouldn't do it with your wife don't do it with the DVD!"
Can be the new slogan

"BBC offering staff escorts to train station"
as chopper reid would say "harden the **** up"

I happily went for a walk around newcastles west end at 2:30am last night.
as I do quite often when I can't sleep or it's to hot.

people should man up and stop being scared of the dark or walk to the train station in small groups....

TBH rough areas are safer when it's dark and all the teenagers aren't hanging around smoking weed and making trouble the only people I see late at night is people walking home after they have been clubbing some of them look rough as hell but so far no one has said a word to me , sucked there teeth at me or tried to rob me.
