Has this hotlinking paranoia not gone too far? I swear we got one 'omg a naughty picture' every year before world+dog became obsessed with solving a problem that never really existed.

The owners of icanhazcheezburger give you permission to hotlink. It's permissable - there is no problem with it. Heck, they given give you a ready made link to each LOLCAT so you can put it on your own blog or forum or whatever!

What happened to common sense? www.bobsownwebsite.com is probably a bad idea to hotlink from. Bob pays for bandwidth and Bob could be a vindictive so and so. But sites that expressly give you permission or belong to multi national corporations? Come on - we whinge enough about PC as it is without being the internet equivilent. I doubt Ford Motor Company give a stuff if you hotlink a Mustang once in a while nor will www.ford.com/products/mustang suddenly be redirected to Two girls one cup for '*** lolz'.

Yeah Lolcats is the new paranoia, it's not like you can change the pic once uploaded anyway.

Previously it was Explosm (they also allow hotlinking)
