Well I'm a bit a of PC gaming/internet addict and I can't believe I never come across these forums until I bought the 4 gig i7 oc deal here a few months ago. That is despite using ocuk a few times in the past, my emails tell me I got a 7800GT from here back in 2005. I also remember getting an AMD Duron 800 @ 1000Mhz deal back in the day but no idea what year that would be now :D

It was all about getting the lowest userID.

It was, thus, a day of much victory.

Some of us were lucky and were pre-registered, I was number 20 until my account broke and the only fix anyone could suggest was to delete it and re-register me. After that we discovered that it was actually down to a bouncing email address so could have easily been resolved. Boooooo :(

Cant you get the other one back then?

I do recall sitting at the pc with nothing better to do than press F5.

Probably still have the signup emails somewhere but that starts to look very sad :)

Joined when I picked up OcUK's first deal of the week AXIA Y cpu/motherboard/ram/cooler bundle. Same name too. Read the forums daily, but not much of a poster, maybe I should start.

So yeah as we were saying on new years day, pre-nuke over here.

Was old to start with, now ancient. Takes me several days/weeks to type a post, by then often the thread is old.

Can I claim "steadiest poster" award?

**goes to toilet using zimmer frame**

It took you 16 days to reply?

JESUS ****. I'd give up, that is a lot of consideration per letter! More than I ever give! :p

Can't you change the email and Pw of the current number 20 then rename it can claim it as yours :p

Well... the way in looked kind of like this:

And you can browse OCUK main page from 2000 onwards in internet archives
:D

Well done v0n - what a litttle treasure trove.

I also (as some others had) had a PII 350 and upgraded to the super fast Slot A Athlon 500 )it didn't last at that speed long though (it was a real b#tch to break open for the full OC access) ordering a Golden fingers device was my first order from OCUK. (not quite my first overclock though, that would be my IBM SLC50Mhz, which I used to run a massive 16Mhz overclock - £5000 work machine at the time  ) ). aahhh the days before the magic AXIA chips :D

I joined once I got my gold finger device for support from fellow members and to compare clocks (cor the days of being able to complete a FULL Seti unit in under 6 hours were approaching ;) I wonder how long a similar unit would take if you could fully utilise all threads on an decenly overclocked i7 ????

That's what happens when people win charity auctions for post counts.

:o

I found the forums some time before I joined. IIRC, I Googled for information on something I was looking to buy and it pointed me here. I lurked for a bit and then ended up joining. I can't quite remember why - I think it was to join the Seti team initially and then I asked some questions about hardware and overclocking and then it all went downhill from there :p (It might have been the other way round but I think it was as above).

I'd ordered stuff from the shop before then and have continued to do so on and off over the years. Must have spent thousands feeding my Folding habit :o

Browsed the forum when I purchased something way back in late 2000. Never registered, lurked for a while, then registered, moved back to Gibraltar, didn't post much, forum got nuked, lurked for a good 4-5 years, re-registered under a different username (Nodirection), then asked for a username change. Phew.

Joined OcUK probably back around 1998 /99(dates maybe wrong) then it was heavily into a game called Counter Strike which kinda split into a UOcUK (un official overclockers Clan/ guild etc) this kinda ran as the games side an eventually split

then i think OcUK changed the forum software about 2002/3? and everyone had to re-register on the forums

so ive been here for flippin years

i used to be under the username of Crasher

anyone remember the millions of NTL counter strike players and the old shouts of LPB an noooob

them were the days :) is UOcUK going ?
