maybe slightly off topic but I popped into the apple store and had a play with a new 8 core mac pro, it only had the stock 2gig of RAM but 2x Quad 2.8 Xeon and in some quick aperture and photoshop usage I have to say I was disappointed. The mbp 2.6 they had was only a little slower (fair enough it's hardly a scientific comparison and I could probably have found a more testing benchmark but I was disappointed considering...)

I think we got the same ones at work, they had around 70+/ 100+ everywhere...
maybe yours if the latest, but same boxes and cases.

I still prefer my pc, but they do have some nice features.

can you use a normal mouse with them and a windows or linux os in dual boot config with mac osx ?

No you can't, as far as I can remember...

not sure about Linux, but with boot camp you can use Windows... and I think that there are alternative mice you can use...

Any mouse will work, and yes you can dual boot Windows.

Sadly, the cooling is all custom and there's no BIOS so you'd have a hard time overclocking the chips.

Not there's much point overclocking an 8-core PC. It's fast enough as it is.
