Looking for bike advice £150 max.

Hello.

Looking for a mountain bike but I have not owned a push-bike in years so not sure what good on the market for a budget of £150.

I have seen one in argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3324659.htm
for £130 and with £20 off code in the news paper on Saturday (17th)

Could any one give me advice on what is good bike?

i know nothing about bikes, but i imagine you will not find a "good" bike in argos for £150

i would buy from a proper bike specialist and £150 would probably get you the most basic of basic bikes.

Yeah I know £150 not a lot and I am not after anything special.
Just a good one that wont fall apart after while lol.

i would go for that - but like i said i know nothing about bikes, but the fact evans doesn't even stock the brands argos does tells you something.

argos is the last place to buy anything decent from.

it's good for hand blenders, bbq's, toy's and odd bits and ends but not decent equipment.

hopefully someone who knows about "budget" bikes will come along soon though.

Your best bet is to go to your local bike shop with your budget and see what the have to say. Or even Halfords is better than Argos.

£150 won't get you a good new bike. Second hand you stand a much better chance.

Thanks Psycho that one is a over my limit at this time but will keep in mind if I can up the budget later.

@madtoady That is what I am doing friday going around all my local ones in luton like cycle king,halfords and maybe toys r us.

My friend has a raleigh max ogre 15 speed bike in his shed and it needs new tires,right gear selector and a good clean is this worth buying or stay away?

£300 is the starting price of something that deserves to be called a bike. Something that can be bought new and is capable of be used seriously off road costs much more. What do you actually want to do with it?

Just some thing I can go about on mostly on the roads to get around town nothing major like going up side of mountain or cross country race

Mostly just transport to my local shooting club and that is a 20 minute ride.

Seen some other ones but probably not very good I suspect.

My mountain bike is a max ogre. Heavy but pretty much bombproof.
