Looking for bike advice £150 max.

i have some woods near me and they have a path but it's not exactly smooth as a road.

they can also get muddy and bumpy in a lot of places and i would need to be able to stop quickly should something or someone pop up from nowhere.

would this type of bike be suitable or would i need a "mountain" bike?

no.. no space for fatter tires, those frames will fit 28c max..

mtb/hybrid/CX is the only option in that case.. and trust me I did try riding my roadie over mud, dirt etc and its not a fun experience :o

its not a bad buy if the frame fits you, and the groupo is in good condition.. doesn't say anything about it in the ad doesn't even mention if everything is working.. :/

I did message the seller asking for more details and close pictures.
I mite take a drive to see it as it's only 30min drive.

Also today I have seen a few bikes in my local shop, not sure if they are any good.
Specialized Hardrock Sport £150

SCOTT Voltage YZ3 £115

Thanks.

I contacted the guy about the single gear bike and it comes with brakes if needed so that is good for me.

If I wanted £15 delivery UPS but I can get the train to London for £15 on the weekend and see what configuration I want at the shop.

If I don't get this single gear bike and see nothing on eBay I most likely save up to £300 and buy a new geared bike and be done with it.

Thanks.

is there a similar really cheap bang for buck decent bike for cheap money for my needs?

most of it is smooth path through the woods with some dodgy bits here and there, so i don't need a brilliant expensive one

yeah as I've said they do come with front/rear brakes no problems with them either :) obvious maintenance is needed but that is the case with every bike..

all my brother done on his in ~1500 miles is replace the pads, tyres and tubes :) the rest is still working fine. It is a Chinese bike but the only reason It's cheap is because its heavy, quality wise it really is a lot better than argos etc offerings.

Even tho the local guy at the shop could hardly speak any english he built my brothers bike up in a few hours.

good choice of colours too! :) test ride it and see how it feels, IMO you'll like it.. but try different types of bars, i would have course recommend going for drops but bullhorns/flat bars will do the job.

I see a lot of people ride these bikes around London and from what I know these guys have been selling them like hot-cakes at that price.

Nothing that I'm aware off, I would say a hybrid is perfect for that but then I guess you could cope with a SS but its mainly road/town focused bike and since you can't fit any fatter tyres it could be a handful to control when you get on the mud/heavier dirt paths

Cheers grudas.

I had a few items I put up for sale and most of it sold now just waiting on a few more bits to go then my budget will be £300+ :D

Still looking at the one for £150 as that is cheap but also checking now the £300 area.

Like this one without carbon forks but not fussed about that to much as a newbie.

After my op on Friday (yes Friday :( lol) I will ask how long it will be before I can ride, but will keep a look out for sales in the mean time.

Thanks.
