If you are using two SSD behind the motherboard tray then order this extra 2.5" cage - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-010-PT&groupid=2362&catid=2674 - as the case comes with just one on the rear behind the tray.

Or you can fit SSDs in the HDD cages in the bottom.

So other than having budget is there any advantage of going with the X99 - 5820k over the z97 m8?

When DX12 comes out then early tests using the 3Dmark DX12 overhead test have shown six core to be an advantage.

Thought of one more question you might be able to answer stulid m8 on the back IO of the Asus Maximus VII Gene Z97 I noticed a toslink port would I be able to use my Mixamp hooked up to that, or perhaps get a soundblaster z to hook up my mixamp?

You might not need the sound card, try the boards onboard audio first.

What I plan on doing with the sound card is to plug in Razer Tiamat 7.1 to the Card then attach the speakers to the Tiamats control box so I will have one button switching from speakers to headphones.

I see and the motherboard is missing one of the audio jacks at the rear (it probably uses a front case port to make 7.1) needed to get full surround
