Looking to upgrade a GTX 780 Ti (water) - what is best?

How important is 4K dsr? It's a feature that is gonna cost a few hundred quid extra to use.

I bought a my first >£500 card in the 1080 a year ago as an upgrade from the original titan as I was impressed by how long a high end card can last (it was 3.5 years old and the upgrade was far more want than need). This made sense over upgrading a mid range card every 1-2 years. The highest end card will always last longest.
