You're genuinely surprised by this ? :confused: It happens all the time in some parts of the world. Just like people in Africa are being burned alive because their fellow primates believe they are witches. Just like homosexuals in Uganda are being lynched in the streets because of what Leviticus 20 says. I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you've got the point. Uneducated people and a deeply religious society produce a cocktail of violence and hatred. This has been true for millennia and isn't likely to change any time soon.
 
There was another one not long back, iirc, where two brothers were accused of raping a girl. They were stoned to death and hung up for all to see. Then a few days after, the girl said she had got the wrong two people...

It's a beautiful world we live in, shame about the vast majority if its human inhabitants.
 
There has been a lot of these in the media recently and there is a debate as to class these 'Honor Killings' as Domestic Violence or not

There are reports of woman being mutilated, wiped and even stoned to death Pakistan and Iraq etc. This happens AFTER some of these women have tried to report a rape to the authorities. Because of the way some elements of Islamic law works, there needs to be 4 men to back up the woman's allegations and 9 times out of 10 there are no witnesses - women are not 'allowed' to give evidence.

These women then get charged with adultery or having sex before marriage and are then punished AGAIN for bringing 'shame' on the family.

There are also reports of rape victims being raped again when they are in Police custody by Police officers as they are now seen as 'spoilt' woman

It is not just women who are attacked, its girls and boys too - all with similar retributions should they report the attack

As a 29 year old (living with boyfriend) female it scares the **** out of me to think that on this planet there are women who are the same age as me who see this happening or live where this sort of thing is 'normal'...words fail me :(

I read this in disbelief yesterday and am saddened to see people still carrying out such barbaric acts. Poor woman. :(
 
Was reading about this today. Such a horrific thing to happen. I don't know what's worse, the fact it even happened, that the police just stood and watched or that she was pregnant.
 
Just one step up from wild animals really.... of course this is just total rural backward communities usually.

I guess the ancient Britons and cultures elsewhere have similar practices in their murky past... the thought that is goes on in the modern world is the most shocking thing.
 
being a father myself I just cannot understand hurting your own child. The Indian rape case is equally repugnant and this was police officers? why is life so cheap to them especially women's lives?
