Kinda in the same boat, haven't seen my farther for 17 years. I recently found some information about my grandparents and my aunties (who i guess i haven't seen for the same amount of time). I would like to find out where my dad is but i feel quite bad as i feel like i've gone behind my mums back :(. The address i have for my grandparents is fairly close, but i don't know how old it is ...and i don't know if i should just go round there unannounced. Going to have to think about it.

Take the letter approach, she bothered to send you a letter in the first place, so send one back!

On topic-just

My sister has been missing/dissapeared from her home for about 7 years now, no sign of her. I would be interested in how your flatmate traced your sister. Any info would be massivly appreciated!

She looked through the 2007 electroal roll, other things like, myspace, phonebook etc

I remember reading some of the original threads on this and other parts of your past. That in mind, it's great to hear what is sure to be amazing news for you :). If you already feel like you've known her for years the likelihood is by being yourself you'll get on well in person. I hope this weekend goes well :).
 
Dude thats so cool your wanting to find your lost siblings but whats even cooler is your house might doing it behind your back and have some luck with it. Thats really sweet.

As for what to write, just write what comes to you. It'll happen. Don't plan it. The most moving and emotional letters are written from the heart in just one moment.

I've just got off the phone from my sis and it's the longest call i've had in a very long while. The reality is starting to sink in and i'm just getting more excited. It's going to be a very interesting weekend.

Thanks for the reply Burnsey, Never thought of places like myspace, good idea! I havent got a clue where to see the 07 electoral role... I shall look into it.

Amazingly... Around the same time my sister dissapeared, my wifes brother dissapeared too. (I didnt know her then). A year ago he finally made contact with my wife. My wife been a totally stubbern mare didntwant to get to know him again, for things that happened before he left. Anyway i forced her to come with me to meet him, and the moment that they saw each other was worth the greif(sp?) i got from her not wanting to go. Its as if the past 7 years just vanished and all was forgiven for that moment. Nice to see.

How easy was it do you think now after you picked the phone up and called her?

All i can say dude is go for it and don't worry about anyhting. Make as much time as you can to meet up.

Lost my bro in Nov and now many months on wish i had of made more time to the sod. Now all i can do is go see his grave, talk cod ...... and have a few beers there.

Must be a great feeling.

My mother hasnt seen one of her children for 30 odd years (my step sister), and we have never met her.

She always tries to contact her and find her, but no luck yet :(
