Just wondering, Many people here on OCUK play Lord Of the Rings Online?

Started the trial last week with a burglar, finding it quite fun as I love doing PvE with other players, it's great fun.

I plan on buying the game relatively soon, only really looked at it due to getting bored of WAR.

Anyway:

Name: Reliic
Server: Eldar
Class: Man Burglar Lvl 17

If theres already a LOTRO thread excuse me and my poor searching skills :)

:D

A few people from my clan play on LOTRO, nothing in the forums, but they play a lot and have their own forum section (Though its unused). They are on most nights and use Teamspeak to communicate. Go to www.fireon-clan.com and go to the LOTRO forum on there.

I did the trial a few months back and I actually found it to be a really quite fun game, not as good as WoW IMHO but certainly the best of the "chasing pack".

It just ran out of appeal when my quest log began filling with Fellowship quests and the only people I could get were complete smacktards.

But upto that point, I was really getting into it, the storyline instanced parts in particular are very well executed and designed.

ITs pretty good but I tend to go through periods of playing and months not bothering, the lifetime subscription works wonders for that though seeing as its got another several years of content to go.

The Moria update is pretty damn big with lots to do aswell. I also find the fellowship quests a pain, I solo more than anything as really its just too easy to do 90% of the game in a group. As with any MMO, you'll run into people in groups who are great, funny and you end up sticking on your friends list, and some people who are so bad you stick on ignore after, kick from group or give up on a group you really need because they are being so crap and/or irritating. Much like real life tbh.

I think its well worth buying, even now the lifetime sub is a pretty decent deal as the odd £15 add on pack will be adding a large amount of content yearly and you don't have to worry about getting bored but having paid for the month already, or paying to check out one new content update(the story and other small updates happen frequently inbetween in the addons) which may only be a few hours of instances every month or two.

I have to say, in terms of end game gear, weapons the legendary weapon system they've made I'm really liking, find one with the bonus stats you want and stick your points where you want gives you a lot of customisation and they are easily obtainable. NOt got to end game armour yet but is supposed to be pretty easy to get rather than months and months of grinding like before the Moria update.

In terms of story its by far the best MMO(ok that i've played, but also that I've heard of) , WOW, WAR and the rest really don't have a main storyline, its just a theme, you're not directly playing the main story, while Lotro is one of a very few MMO's with a main story line aswell as lots of other chains and single quests.

I have recently reactivated my subscription after a 7 month break and for me it is the best of the bunch.

ThePvE is great even though it is not my ideal game. I would rather be playing something like Vanguard if were not for the low population.

I am still waiting for the perfect MMO.

im a self confessed Lotro Addict.

what server have u started on? i know there are quite a few Ocuk guys spread across snowbourn

for me the Moria expansion has been brilliant im having a lot of fun playing all the new content and exploring new zone.

the original game is great u will have a lot of fun lvling thru to 50, providing u can find enough ppl to fellow with, but once u get into the new zones erigion onwards your in for a real treat.

my big suggestion for this game would be to look out for a kinship to join as this will increase your enjoyment tenfold. try and be picky about kinship, look for one that u think u will fit into and one that provides the things u need.

there is no point joining a kin full of 12yr olds if u find younger ppl irritating, also there is no point joining a hardcore raiding kin if your a casual laid back player, find one that suits u then saddle up with some ppl at your lvl and play as a group, get to know em and have fun after all mmo's are a social experiance and for me Lotro has a great community.

if u are on snowbourn and need any hints or tips about what your doing feel free to drop me a line, im on pretty much every evening almost soly on my main at the moment.

oh and one last tip, where ever possible keep up to date with the epic story / quest line, it provides some of the best fun quests, and also gives the game a great story feel. also not to be forgotten some of the best standard loot rewards come from the epics

hope this helps

Have just started this game but have rolled on evernight - no indicators as to the population on any of these servers. I see quite a few people but not loads as of yet - though only lvl 8 atm.

Is snowbourn a good server to start on then population wise?

Just restarted after a long break
Trying out the new Rune Keeper atm and finding it good fun - even if the RP nerds hate the idea of a magic user with a vengeance.

I'm also on Snowbourn and in United Kingdoms same as Loki

Character name is Thelrin if you do decide to come over to Snowbourn - Dinalt is my minstrel but i'm enjoying the new toon too much to revive him atm.

Snowbourn and Laurelin (sp) are the busiest EU servers I think. I played on Snowbourn and it was always quite busy, even in the small hours. That said, I haven't played since MoM, and I spent my last few months in the Ettens :) (R6 Hunter and R3 Burg).

i have always found Snowbourn to be a well populated server.

in my opinion if your unsure of the server pop on your server and are only lvl 8 i would re roll on a higher pop server as the first 8 lvls go by very fast and wont take you long to get back to.

lots of ppl are rolling the new classes so u could find ppl to quest with.

speaking of ettens i havent been down there since moria tho that could be because my rank 6 hunter is still at lvl 50.

tho i guess i could try n get up to rank 5 on my mincer :)

the ettenmoors is dead :( , a dev on the US forums stated ;-

We do know that there are more adjustments to be made, on both sides. We will continue to gather data and feedback to make these adjustments. However it is more than likely that any other changes we make won't be in place until the next content update, which at this time we don't have an ETA for yet.

When we have more information, we will be sure to pass it along.
too many creeps have quit now, and with no action being taken to fix the problems until the next bk release the moors is sadly finished.

Laurelin is probably the best server to roll a new char on, being that it is a RP server theres a more mature community.

Snowbourn is as popular if not the most populated of all, plenty of guilds up and running with loads of new chars popping up to quest with all the time..

personally, and what im doing is rolling any new chars on Laurelin as it just seems more of a mature and helpful server plus it has THE best PvP of them all !!!

Am i still eligable for the life time membership as i was in the beta and pre ordered the CE or has the time passed?

they did offer a discount of approx 10% if you had a founders club membership but ive no idea if thats still available, but anyone can buy a lifetime via the codemasters account website

I do love Lotro but I always hit a wall of fellowship quests and start to lose interest. :(

I'm not quite there yet with my level 34 warden but it can't be far off.
