Louis Van Gone / Jose Mourinho set to be announced as Man Utd manager this week - BBC

Well where are we allowed to discuss the things he talked about in his press conference? The other thread was closed. Are we just not allowed to talk about it?

I did say you can discuss his appointment and unveiling in here, didn't I? If you want to discuss the pro's and con's of signing Ibrahimovic then that can be discussed in the transfer thread.

Ok so we discuss him wanting Rooney played as a number 10 in here but then when we talk about the implications of that to Ibra then we move to the transfer thread? I've never been on a forum that so actively wants to stop discussion, it's crazy...

Are the following posts discussing Mourinho's appointment? Are they discussing the implications of playing Rooney behing Ibrahimovic or anything else discussed in Mourinho's press-conference? They're not. It's a separate discussion.

Again, if you want to discuss Mourinho's appointment and the things he raised in his press-conference, it can be discussed in here. As soon as it becomes a thread for all things Utd it will be closed.

Am I alone in not rating Ibra that much?

I wouldn't have wanted United to pay tons for him but on a free I certainly think he's worth having.

At the least, Rashford and Martial learn from a legend of the game for a year.

No-one wants to stop discussion at all.
What's not wanted is multiple threads all discussing the same subject or just one team.

Except in this case a thread for this specific discussion was made, then locked and you have a mod saying if you discuss that subject in here then this thread will be locked.

This thread is about Mourinho 'being hired', and discussing what he will do and his press conference is apparently too much. The thread on that specific case was locked, which thread is that supposed to be discussed in, if this one why is Baz threatening to lock it?

It's honestly a little bit embarrassing how this sub forum decides discussion must be separated. Effectively no one but the mods cares, things happen that involve a specific club which might span several difficult topics together as a whole but we can't discuss it in one thread because it would be a club thread.

But who Utd buy, what Mourinho might do with existing players and how people see the team lining up doesn't fit in the transfer thread nor in this thread specifically about his appointment.

How about be a little less anal about thread names and use a bit more common sense over summer. In season there is weekly discussion thread which is essentially a prem league this week thread. Over summer those threads don't exist yet anything used instead to focus discussion points for this week get called club threads and deleted.

How about, if a thread gets out of control, delete it, if it doesn't..... don't?

More specifically about not wanting multiple threads, you want people to discuss the same subject, Mourinho's appointment and what he'll do in the team in both this and the transfer thread, which just turns the transfer thread into a Utd thread. Again as I said the weekly fixtures thread served as a "everything in here" thread that got replaced weekly. We have nothing similar over summer, and you're actively encouraging a lot of very off topic posting in the transfer thread by refusing to allow other threads to discuss ongoing topics.

I'm clearly not a Utd fan, I had no problem with a Mourinho's first press conference thread, his conference laid out some pretty clear things about what he wants from Utd and a thread to discuss that is entirely appropriate.

All I can say is with the signings and manager, what he's said (so far) etc it's definitely more exciting than Moyes and LVG put together.

I hope he will do well. I have not really watched Manchester United since Fergie left.
Does Mourinho have his work cut out with the current team or is there a chance he can win the premiership?

There's always a chance, the team needs another player or two and some far better coaching, though. But it's not bad at all, especially with the latest signings.

Cool i'm hoping they can just stay in the top 4 the upcoming season. I'm going to start watching from now.
