Louis Van Gone / Jose Mourinho set to be announced as Man Utd manager this week - BBC

:p

De Gea out for a massive fraud like Mendes pay off. This would not be that far from the time Fergie essentially gave him a £3m friends fee by signing Bebe for £7m and not actually knowing who Bebe was or having even watched a video. Mata boy cannot see him staying around either but Pep must be near suicide after the time Mourinho pretty much soured football so much in Spain the guy had to quit.

Mentally fragile Pep? Mafia don Mourinho and Mendes reign? I reckon things will be bitter, Gloomy and anti-football and anti-guardiola but at the same time i think he will win the league a lot. But for me i would rather win with style i think United have just been desperate and getting his CV and the ability to fry and run Pep out of town is probably too good for Woodward to refuse.

You have to look at Woodward also he is weak but a Glazer puppet and thus to keep him from being sacked too they needed a miracle because with no CL football how do you attract someone like Pogba? And if you cannot attract them how do you improve that year? But if you use someone like Mourinho you can sort of negate that with high wages and contract clauses. All of which United now have.

Interesting...

I wasn't conviced about LVG leaving and Mourinho arriving but he's here now and I will get behind him. If his opening statement is followed through then it could be the start of something special.

Hopefully he has learned from his mistakes and has been sharpening his skillset before arriving here. If he wants to be as great as SAF then I will support him 100%. I mean he's going to have a big wad of cash to spend. He has the history of winning and the EPL experience (something vital at this stage for Utd).

Could he be the one we look back at in the future as the guy who made us great again?

Only time will tell. I bloody hope it works out.

Does anyone know how much control/influence he will have on running the club?

wtf?

English translation would be useful.

Can a Don explain why this thread stays open and the Wenger one closes because it's too close to being a 'club' thread. I can't see any difference between them

IMO the difference is that Wenger one was all just speculations at this point. This one however is a very current manager change, in a week or so I can see this one being closed as well.

Why? He's won everywhere he's been to and to me winning is exciting. Take the 'pool red glasses off?:o

That's subjective - one word I'd never use for Mourinho is exciting. And no where did I say you wouldn't win anything (you won the FA Cup with LvG, that wasn't exciting ;)). My 'pool red glasses told you all how the Moyes appointment would work and you lot didn't like me saying that either :p

And finally, it was only a tongue in cheek comment, don't get too upset :)

Hold them dam horses captain! There is no "we" as far as I'm concerned, I'm no Man U fan:p

I still disagree with your comments. I would say he is exciting he's never slow to make aggressive substitutions if needed. Love him or loathe him you clearly fall under the latter he is box office one way or another as is Klopp, Pep and Wenger I only wish Pochettino was more excitable although I'm sure that will come.

Coming from a Spurs just so we're clear :p

Big difference is that Mourinho knows how to get results - at least a 16% better win rate than LvG, and the loss rate is also a lot better.

Yes the football was **** under LvG for the most part (apart from the odd win against Liverpool, which he gave up so damned easily this season in Europe) but the results really werent there either - at the very least Mourinho should change that.

If Utd hadnt changed manager this year, in all liklihood we would have dropped further down the league, there would have been more bad performances and in all liklihood Chelsea would be back ahead of us and with Liverpool out of Europe completely have a VERY easy season ahead with Klopp having a full summer and everything that means for the squad it would make it a lot more challanging to get a CL spot in 17-18 - and that would be highly dependant on which manager we could attract next summer which is a huge ? anyway.

Performances may not be great next season, but I will be very surprised if results arent there to vindicate this approach to getting Utd back in the CL

Got there in the end? He'd have been your manager 3 years ago if you wanted him and it certainly looks like you settled for him rather than specifically wanted him this summer.
