It's not about physical space, after all you could fit the entire world's population on the Isle Of Wight if stood shoulder to shoulder.

Yes we could fit more people in the country but it's not about space, it's about resources. Every single person needs a certain square foot of farmland, reservoir , electricity substation etc to live along with the physical space they take up. Having to import great amounts of food, water and power isn't really a favorable option given it weakens your position in the world (look at how we can't get tough on Russia over Ukraine for fear of cutting off our gas supplies for example).

Most of those resources don't actually need to be located on the UK, but there is actually loads of room for all of those things except except food. But we already import large amounts of food, that is perfectly normal. There is no need to be self-sufficient

You've ignored the latter paragraph you quoted. As soon as you give other nations the ability to cut off food/water/power supplies you are screwed.
 
Yea lets buy other nations food until the time comes when they too are overpopulated by Africa and decide they need the food. Seriously this is the most retarded thing i have ever heard of that you do not need to be self-sufficent. In time how will you reverse the population if you cannot feed them? The answer is famine and many many millions dead if one half decent world calamity strikes.


Another depressing thing i read today in the Belfast Telegraph was that 1 in 3 people in the UK will be BME (Black minority ethnic group) by 2050 and that 80% of our population growth would be from them. I found it a pretty shocking read that Africa is still baby booming when they have no food, no water and no real future. Meanwhile out of my 5 childhood friends only two have a little girl the rest are still childless. If we were Nigerian we would have about six by now and be waving goodbye on thier route to Europe.

I think ukip need to keep stressing that mass immigration is different to immigration. Recent population statistics is at 7.2 billion people on planet. Our liveable areas and infrastructure is finite within the geographical area that we happen to be born in and populate. Without the relative increases in infrastructure capacity and supply of housing and other things. The country will not be able to maintain a level of standard of living that would have been expected. This will lead to informal settlements. There has to be some kind of practical limit to the amount of immigration we can handle at current capacity of transportation, housing and so on. Its like that game sims. At the moment we have a lot of negative notifications going on. We need to mine some woods or something.

So how does Japan cope? Or Belgium, or the Netherlands, or Israel? All have significantly higher population density than us but maintain a similar (or higher) living standard?

Out of interest which things would those be? Are you sure they are not doing them? I.E UKIP say that they are doing a terrible job on immigration and they would fix it, but in reality the Torys have already reduced it by more than UKIP intended to in their 2010 manifesto.

Mass immigration shoukd be a consideration for any country, but larger countries can withstand more of it. Even larger countries have stricter rulea on immigration than the uk. Japan has an aging population and uk has great social benefits and a strong currency. Which makes it a good choice for a lot of people.

Statistics on the subject always shown benefits are of very little interest to EU migrants. Isn't percentage of EU migrants claiming benefits in lower range of single digits?

Self-sufficiency is inefficient and it wastes resources. For thousands of years, city states/tribes aimed for self-sufficiency yet they always ended up under the control of an entity based on wider cooperation (kingdom, empire etc.). The birth rates in Africa are caused by lack of education and poverty (lack of birth control). In order for Africa to 'decide' anything, it first needs to educate its people, make them richer and apply science and technology. Which, as history has shown, leads to lower birth rates.

The obsession with the world's 'out of control' population is irrational and the reason why you and many of your peers share this irrational fear is your location - an island with a high population density.

You find it depressing there will be more blacks in the UK because you are a racist. Think about it this way, you will retire one day and someone needs to pay for the support you will get from the NHS. Your friends' nonexistant children will not contribute (obviously) but the BME's will. So instead of being depressed about it, you should be thankful.
