lower ab workout

I'm going to repeat this.

No such things as "lower abs".

Lose some body fat.

By doing compounds and also some core-centric work you will build some ab muscles - but you won't see them until you shed the fat.

Dont hanging leg raises target the lower abs?

And you may well get bigger lower abs... that will still be covered in a layer of fat.

;)

Stop eating carb-heavy crud, go in for a calorie deficit over a few weeks and your abs will appear eventually... regardless of how many crunches, barbell roll-outs, planks, sit-ups, leg raises, etc. you do.

KyleVTR: as already posted, if you want lower abs, you have to cut fat - not necessarily change your routine. It might not be the most glamorous answer, but just happens to be true.

Ask Kai about how he managed to get ultra lean... Serious Hard Work in the very clean food department.

Change your diet a little to slowly take off and keep your body fat level low.
Leg extensions are a great exercise to build the lower abs and pelvic floor muscle.

I seem to have somewhat larger upper abdominals to my lower abdominals and leg extensions are great, if you do them properly.

I'm clearly not thinking of the same leg extensions as you.... so what do you mean as leg extensions?

This is what iv being taught. Sit ups, crunches for top 4 etc, Leg raises for bottom two. Well to help define. Its all one muscle though.

Anyone tried the Russian V Tucks. Hell there a killer.

This isn't true.

To sum up this thread:

  • The rectus abdominus is one muscle.
  • Getting visible abs is more about getting low body fat than increasing the size of any muscles
  • You can't spot reduce fat

This forum needs a facepalm/head vs. brick wall smiley.
