Lowest Temperature 4.2Ghz overclocked

Not quite what I meant, I very much want 12gb, on one hand I think cad will love it, on another much fun with ramdisks, and finally multiple virtual machines. I was wondering what you use it for which stops you taking out 6gb to see if it'll clock higher

Yeah you might as well try with 6GB, see what kind of clocks you can get. Your settings are exactly the same as mine, apart from my RAM is at 1600MHz and you have 12GB, so you have a better chip than me.

1 hour and 43 minutes full load and temperature remain the same at 71C.

But it seems that Prime95 has only just started, Realtemp might have been running for 1hr 43, but without varifcation of Prime it doesnt mean anything.

Heres mine with a quick IBT pass to max out the temps, and as Jon knows Load Line Callibration switched off thus the higher voltage. I have run prime for 4hours on this before and temps rise to about 80c with an ambient of 27c, but I dont run it 24/7.

Still well under intels voltage range, nicely done Gaidin.

I'm loving that the i7 chips seem to be thermally limited, it's so much easier to overcome a thermal limitation than a voltage one.

Who's the bird? Even without seeing the other half of her face she looks stunning

Thanx Jon. I'm at the mobo's stable clock limit now tho. Back to 4ghz 24/7 for me. Got a new gtx 285 and soundcard to install tomorrow so I will concentrating on the gpu oc.

The girl is Jennifer Love Hewitt btw.

You 2 have got really good chips I must say..

I hope that I get a cherry chip when I buy my 2nd one for my fiancees rig..

The limit hitting around 220 bsck is a frustrating one, all the more so if the rev 2 of the board doesn't have the same low limit. Xtreme have got them stable up to 235 with a new bios and moving a resistor, I'm seriously considering this.

Fount the thread, took a while even through google though

Anything much over 200bclk and my mobo doesn't like it. I would have to mess about too much with the memory settings and stuff. I'm pleased I got the 8,8,8,24,2T timings with 1528mhz with only 1.5v though. I'm happy with my 4ghz OC especially with such low volts across the board and no LLC.

Why you disabled LLC ? Just curious myself :)

Yep, me and Gaidin109 had a cherry chip ! (will never going to sell it) I just wait until my water cooling setup before christmas and I think my cherry chip can get up to 4.4Ghz possible ?

Bulldog, that is a long and complicated story. There is a thread all about it, basically LLC allows spikes in the CPU voltages that can degrade the CPU. With it disabled the voltage cannot go above what you set in the bios, it means you have to compensate manually for vdroop by setting a higher vcore in bios. It's harder to get a stable OC but seems safer in the long run. Slightly lower temps as well.

Now theres a can of worms bulldog. Here's one thread, and near the end of this one is a link to this one containing an awful lot of technical stuff and an argument between Gaidin and myself over whether to use it or not.

Sounds good Bradley, what do you have in mind? Staying with air throughout or watercooling anything, and what voltage/temperature limits do you plan to work around? My basic plan is to watercool absolutely everything and then try to keep voltages reasonable, then undo all the good work of watercooling by attempting to run 12gb of ram.

At Gaidin, general consensus seems to be that up to 200 bsck goes fairly easily if you can keep the processor cool enough, 200 to 220 is difficult, and anything over 220 needs modification. It might also need sub ambient, this isn't clear. Approximate numbers. I really need to get a cooler for my cpu

Just waiting on my case to be finished. I cant really post log due to a competitor sponsoring the build. CPU and GPU on a PA120.3 with push/pull. Not the best set up but should handle temps ok. This is what im aiming for. We have same batch.

4.5Ghz with 1.38v.

My block before getting plated :)

Ok fair point. Are you thinking of try to set up water cooling one day ? As these are far the best than cpu air cooling and also far best than H50 as well. Maybe one of us both could easy go 4.4Ghz with our cherry chip ?

That's is pretty good for your 4.5Ghz ! I had to sort out my planning of water setup before xmas. Maybe you could help me out ?

If I read this correctly, your processor is from the 3913B213 batch which a fellow named beast is running at 4.5ghz, but otherwise google hasn't heard of. It would be excellent to have someone else from this forum overclocking the same processor, with the same board and basically the same cooling.

Gone looking for your mod, does this picture look familiar?

I'm going with the ek supreme and watercooling the board, and my graphics card is rather littler than yours but otherwise I think the cooling systems are going to work out almost the same.

I've just noticed that your swiftec block is transparent, and it isn't normally. I find this hilarious as I am currently going to great pains to source an opaque top for my stock-clear ek supreme.

1 hour 43 mins you say... and yet Prime95 has only just started going by the image  I'd be more impressed if you post a pic with 12+hrs rather than sub 1 minute run with good temps. :)
