m eating wagyu steak while on benefits! should I feel bad?

And what about the people who have no choice but to be on benefits, let em starve?
let them commit crime instead,

the 50k a year per prisoner is a massive saving over paying someone 12k a year or whatever to be on disability right.

we can have 1 prisoner for 5 every 5 disabled people stealing food, the maths make sense somewhere.

soon we can turn into Japan, where old people have a better life in prison than outside living in poverty

ironically it probably costs more to keep them in prison, that give a decent pension

I believe there is work for everyone even those who feel trapped on benefits. Even being able to use a forum, post etc means your capable of doing screen work.
assuming your post isn't tongue in cheek,/

there's never going to be a job for everyone as long as machinery and automation helps one person do the job of many, factories once employed hundreds and even thousands of people. now they can be run by a team of 10

also most unfilled vacancies are unfilled for a reason, the jobs arent where the people are.

if your born in some poverty ridden ex mining town your chance of employment is basically 0, if you don't have the funds to be able to up and move in search of work what do you do?
people literally do get trapped on benefits

That’s utter rubbish. I’m able to use a forum, but my disability means I have to do it 90% of the time on my iPad while lying down to avoid breathlessness and back pain. But yeah, I can sit for hours in front of a screen. Who cares if it makes me even more unwell, as long as it saves a few quid of taxpayers money eh?

Just get real.

Deluded. It sounds like what you're advocating is for people to work minimum wage jobs for a few hours a week and be paid a pittance while some or all of their previous benefits are cut, leaving them with even less to live on.

Why are so many people so keen on moving society back over and treating the disabled or mentally ill like it’s an us vs them problem.

you could probably monitor CCTV but lets face it, no one is going to want to employ someone in your condition over someone with 0 issues,

I'm sure you'd be great in a job where you can work when you want, only get paid for the hours you work.

but it doesn't sound like you'd be up to doing deliveroo or ubereats either.

For how many generations has your lineage paid into the system? is it fair that now one takes back? did your ancestors help build this fine country? how dare you expect to be taken care of in your time of need. did your granparents fight ww2? I bet they wouldn't have if they only knew you would end up on the dole.

the above is sarcasm btw

but for hundreds of years families give without taking, whys it wrong when one needs help?

people will be arguing for means tested state pensions soon, why should they get paid when they don't need it? they only paid into the pot for decades, its not their fault the government squandered the money

Having worked in the same office as a tetraplegic im always sceptical when people say they can’t work. Now Im not for one moment suggesting that’s you Mr Foster but I always admire what people can do rather than can’t do. And it never surprises me what people who can’t work actually manage to do in their own lives.

Turning down a minimum wage job shouldn’t be a choice, even if it pays less than benefits. I remember my younger sister telling me that her first full time job on minimum wage netted her £1200 per month. But she knows other girls who left school, got pregnant and claim every benefit under the sun (circa £1400 - £1800) I said do you find that demoralising? She said no i don’t want that life, I wanna better myself. 6 years later she works for a recruitment company on £45k Pa.

Paying taxes doesn’t work as a building society where your relatives have saved up so you can sit it out. Taxes are there to fund services like education, police, pensions etc and those who pay in do so to make use of these services. The money gets spent at the time.

You've got that backwards, the industrial revolution and subsequent tech advances have created many jobs.

If we were mostly all manually farming fields then we'd be far less able to offer work to disabled people, it's those productivity advances that have allowed for it in the first place

You've completely missed the point of my post, clinging to the mention of minimum wage rather than the overall effect of forcing disabled people into this kind of work. Your sister isn’t disabled and her friends aren’t claiming the type of benefit being discussed here.

It's always very obvious in these threads or topics who has directly or indirectly experienced life as or with a disabled person. Claiming someone can work because they can post on a forum is about as daft as it gets. So is using outliers as some kind of gotcha for all disabled people.

Of course, some people are too disabled to work at all and that’s fine. That is what the benefits system is designed for.

All I’m saying is society is writing too many people off and that needs to change.

I don't get the obsession with steak. I'm an omnivore and very occasionally have a well done steak, but not very often and I'd usually pick something else off the menu.

Everyone is different though, and if we all liked the same thing the world would be a very boring place.

Bon appetit!

A good steak is a beautiful thing, a crap steak is very depressing though and that's the problem a lot of steak being served is on the wrong end of that scale.

Yup.

I pretty much won't ever have steak if eating out, as it's usually always *****.

If you get from the butcher or to be fair most... Of the time Tesco finest ones are ok, although a bit small for my liking.

Get them seasoned with salt pepper and a bit of oil, and to room temperature first, then a very hot BBQ, rare to medium rare.

Perfect.

And a knob of butter in the pan to baste the steak
