Ive run AS SSD benchmark and my M4 is only reading at 420 and writing at 200. I thought they were supposed to be reading at over 500, is there something i need to do that ive overlooked?
I have an i5 cpu, gigabyte ga-z68ap-d3 mobo, and corsair ddr3 ram

You can't just do that otherwise your system won't boot, as you've found out.

You need to apply the "Fix it" here first (assuming you have Vista or W7).

So first run the "Fix it" in the link, restart the PC and go straight into the BIOS, change the SATA mode to AHCI, save the changes and the PC will start again and hopefully you'll be using AHCI mode.

I took delivery of one of these today and I to am not getting the full read speed.

Mine is the M4 128gb with the latest firmware.

My PC is a i7 2.8, 12gb ram, ex58-ud5 mobo, raid set in bios, fresh install of win 7.

My speed test is 280 read and 190 write.

Appreciate any ideas on why I cant get the full read speed.

Still new to all this myself, but guessing that as your motherboard only has sata2, not sata3, so those speeds look about right.

Thanks for your thoughts FBi7.

Ahh yes my mobo only has Sata2. It still does run much smoother compared to the traditional WD drive installed prior.

If this is the case I'll have to wait a while as I cant justify upgrading anything else just yet.

I'm almost in the same boat as you. My mobo is also sata2, but I've not bought my ssd yet!

The limited knowledge I have is due to lots of research, asking questions and being glued to this forum for the past week!

It's a costly luxury, so want to know everything before I commit to buying.

Would one of the SATA 6 Gbps PCI Express Controller Cards be an option?
They range in price but could be a possible work around

Don't bother. They never give full SATA 6Gbps speeds. Stick with the onboard SATA 2 for now. Still would feel snappy since it doesn't have to spin up a disk before it reads/writes.

i too only have a sata2 board but the speed increase is still incredible.
