M5 SMG Transmission

Higher mileage, more expensive, less kit. Second one's not too bad though.

Had last service 5k back, new tyres & brake pads few months back, alloys refurbished 6months back.

Don't worry, I wouldn't buy if it's broken but why pass up on the chance to get a fully spec'd one for cheaper just because it's a repossession

But... if it's got a full BMW service history, no record of any mechanical fault, still drives perfectly (better than the BMW Used Approved one might I add) and passes a full mechanical inspection then I don't see a problem with it.

The car was repossessed because the company went under, not because some guy fell behind on his payments because he couldn't afford to put petrol in it.

I understand your concerns, I feel them too. But if the car is thoroughly checked by professionals then that eases my mind.

I put the link up but removed it and trusted it instead.

Yes of course I'm including the warranty in the price, try and find a similar car at BMW and you'll be hard pressed. I know I don't need all the extras and if I find out it's a dog then I'll go back to looking for one with my specific requirements, but why pass up on the opportunity straight away?

Which is why I want to get it inspected first. I know it's a bargain with the potential to be a dog, I've gone in thinking it's too good too be true from the moment I saw the add which is why I want everything checked over first.

You guys are acting like I'm buying this car from a back street ally without even looking at it.

FYI the screen was cracked at the salvage yard during the winter, not by the previous owner and then left unrepaired.

I think it was to give the company some allowed time to buy it back or something like that.

I'm not sure on the inspection which is why I asked for advice. AA won't quote, RAC are yet to get back to me, BMW want it all day but I'm not sure if the owner will allow that, will ask tomorrow.

I'm trying to find someone else but not sure where to look for someone with the knowledge and experience.

No harm in getting it checked over though right?

Yeah BMW are my preference and the first people I called, I just have to see if the seller will agree to letting them have the car for a day.

Just under £250 iirc, worth it imo.

Yeah, I was planning on doing the windscreen myself if the car is ok. But the seller was waiting for a call back from BMW about windscreen prices anyway so i assume it will be done right.

Personally I think it's worth it. £250 for knowing either way is a reasonable price to pay I think.

If it's perfect I'll have a great car at a great price, if it's a dog I'll walk away and know it was £250 well spent.

Not 28k, much cheaper. He lowered the price to sell it quick, and I knocked a bit off as well. There are no other examples like this for anywhere as close.

Purchase is pending inspection of course.

You see that's the thing. You try too dig and dig and I answer your questions but you jump to huge conclusions without knowing the full picture.

All I asked for was advice on how to get it inspected yet you've already assumed it's a beat up dog which has been repossessed because the previous owner was so poor he treated it like a banger and it has been sitting in a salvage garage rotting away in shoddy condition.

I know there is risk, I am aware which is why I want it inspected, but after seeing the car, finding out it's history I am already more sure that it is a potentially good buy, and pending a good review from an inspection the car is a potential bargain.

Price wasn't dropped on the same day it was advertised, it was on his site at 28 (not sure how long) but when he put it on AT yesterday he lowered the price.

All reasonable questions, which is why I want to get it inspected first.

The car was not in "storage" over winter, the price was not reduced on the day it was put up. He has been using it nearly 2 years as his daily, not months. Full service history, drove better than the BMW Used approved one. I believe his reasons for the low price.

Suspicious hat is on, all questions have been asked, still satisfied with answers and condition yet purchase is only pending a successful professional inspection.

Yep. Not sure why he hasn't fixed it yet though.

He had it listed as a repossession on his salvage website as all the other cars on there are crash damaged. On AT it is just another normal advert by a guy selling his car, no mention of the repossession, I found the salvage advert after some googling.

The only reason you are satisfied with the answers is because the guy has offered you a price you can afford and therefore the chance of owning a high spec M5 is clouding your judgement.

There you go jumping to conclusions again.
