Why the hell do people put subs on the desk? Subs are meant to go on the floor so that you feel the bass. Waste of time and sounds crap going on the desk.

I agree with that when using a dull black sub or similar but a JBL! They look so good.

It is in the corner and believe me when I crank that baby up the whole house rocks. Anyway, I can't put it underneath the desk because of all the crap I have hidden there. :D

True.. Bass is omni-directional, but I wouldn't advise putting it on a desk.

You're going to loose a lot of the attack because it wont be properly grounded.

Fancy making your own cable?

Pretty easy to do.. be happy to advise you if want :)

I don't care what anyone says.

If you put your subwoofer anywhere but on the floor, then you are not going to get the true performance the unit is meant to give. I put the sub of an old set of creative speakers on my desk once thinking it wouldn't matter. After 10seconds of listening to it it went back on the floor.

Going slightly OT here :)

thanks very much for the offer m8
but the cables come hard wired to the speakers
so don't really want to mod them.
will eventually get better ones but these suffice for now :)

Just what is up with you? id read some facts before you blaber trash. A Sub doesnt need to be on the floor to sound good it can go anywhere you like as long as theres nothing in its way to stop the soundwaves.

Babes, please... dismount from ones high horse. I didn't mean it in a way that was making me out to be the king of knowledge. So - lets retard our anger levels.

Most good subs have a downward firing woofer. Obviously, logic would tell us that firing in to a hollow surface is never going to be as good (or efficient) as firing to a solid floor.. you'd simply loose too much sound through absorption, and with air having an absorption co efficient of 1 (1 being total absorption) I'd say that's a helluva lot of absorption / bass leakage.

Therefore.. I'd say, if you can go with a solid surface (floor) ;)

Back on topic though...

Once I get my bro to lend me his Shiny Canon EOS 1D Mk II I shall post some uber sexy pics of my 17" MBP :D

I see you are sporting a Lynx Africa kit there. Let me guess, present off someone who couldn't be arsed to get you something more thoughtful?

I recieved 2 of these sets at Xmas from 2 different people - its an easy way out for someone to buy that for a bloke :)

Always come in handy though.

Major OT there.
