It completely depends on the machine you would be purchasing. In store it also depends on whether you are on "the list". There is, however, a base education discount so if you aren't on the list then you can get something at least.

Yes sorry its me.

Im getting the elgato eyetv dtt one, £69 from apple store, supposed to be better then the miglia one with is same price.

it is usb 2.0 and you can use the macbook remote in frontrow with it (just adds another menu to frontrow)

bit expensive seen as the windows ones can be had for around 20quid but hey its mac.

www.elgato.com for more specs.
Did you ever get it? How is it?

Just ordered myself the 17" with Education discount (graduates count right ;))

Will be posting pics when she arrives..

Cheeky! Did you order it over the phone or on the site? How much of a discount did you get, if you dont mind me asking? And did they want proof? Im interested in a new macbook, y'see!

I got the 17" for £1614 with free printer.

I bought the extra 3 years cover for an extra £58, and a nice Neoprene case to keep it in :)

I rang up.

I'm pretty sure the extra £58 only gives you a longer period of "how do I do this?" phone support. 3 years warranty comes as standard on all systems bought in the HE store.

£58 was the offer on for full 3 year APP plan. It was a great deal saving the customer ~70%. Full phone and technical support.

The 3 year support included in the HE store is a limited plan. It only covers repairs upto the value of total £400 and doesn't include phone support.

apologies - this is obviously the wrong thread :o

Where is the £400 limit defined? As far as I can see, the T&Cs just say:

10.1.1 All Apple-branded desktop and portable computer products shall be subject to a 36 calendar month warranty period commencing from the date of purchase (the date of your invoice).

How could that hold up if it's not mentioned in the T&Cs that you are directed to for details of the agreement?

My understanding was that you get 3 years hardware support over the standard 1 year + an extension on the 90 days technical support :)

Im hanging on before getting my 2nd Macpro... macrumurs are suggesting that the quadcore clovertowns are going to be in them early next year, and at a similar price to the current 3ghz machines... id prefer 8x2.66ghz over 4x3ghz any day of the week, but I suppose it totally depends on the apps your using.

Also I personnal feel 2gb is going to be a bottleneck for PSCS2 type work, I got mine at basic 1gb spec and soon found myself using 3.5gb of ram (2.5gb HDD swap) when using Aperture and CS2, ive since swapped out the 2x 512mb sticks for 4x1gb stick, which not only increases the ram but increases the ram speed due to using all 4 channels the FB-Dimm system allows.

I want to get a 4 core 3ghz, I will never ever ever need 8 cores :D 6 of em will be off most of the time lol

2Gb, 4x512mb will keep up with any mild PS/Video work, CS3 should be out next year aswell. Education discount too :D So I hope I can get a cheaper 4x3Ghz one :D

Im at a puzzle tho, I have a 3.6ghz C2D + X1900XTX rig, but my Mac Pro could game... I think Ill keep both for gaming :D
