Mac Pro - Should I ?

Leopard does soft RAID, no need for cards really.

I installed The Beast tonight, just pointed the home directory to the old disk, and I was up and running in 10 minutes, with the same home folder I've been using since 1998 (Yes, thats the pre-osx betas ;-))

So far, so good ! I miss the old PCI slots tho, I do have some cool hardware thats going to be collecting dust before it's time :/

can you do full raid 5 ( i think thats the one with the backup drive ) and can you mix and match internal and external drives in the raid setup ?

cheers

I just tried installing Vista 64bit onto my mac pro, worked fine. I used the BC assistant to create a partition and format it, did that to Fat32 but Vista requires NTFS.
So I reformatted the drive to NTFS using the Vista installation but then VMWare Fusion doesnt pick up the Vista installation.

Is there anyway of installing Vista 64 with Fat32 or getting VMWare to pickup the NTFS Vista installation?

BTW those who are hesitating to by memory.. Crucial's MacPro memory jumped up 17% at the very least over the last week. I 'refreshed' my basket there and noticed the 2*2GB kit was from 99.99 Ex-VAT to 117 Ex-VAT...
With the change rate as it's going, it's 'panic buy' time :D

Received my 4x2GB from Italy today. installed it, all works perfectly ! Mega deal at £158.00 :D

10GB is a hell of a lot comfier than 2 :D

Thread revivals are GOOD :D

I finally decided 10GB could be a bit tight, or ordered 8GB more -- I'll get rid of the apple sticks and the machine will be stocked up at 16 for the next few years :D

The new mac pro are suspected in early next year, but I don't think I'd be able to fill them up at £77 per 2*2GB for the foreseable future :D :D
