Mac users' elitism

But what they don't realise is outside the realms of nerdy 15 year olds bedrooms, the type of computer you own has no relevence on life.

If you could make a venn diagram of all the social groups, mac users, vegetarians and the gingers would have a pretty serious overlap.

Whats always amused me is the thought that programs that coexist on both main platforms are somehow better on a mac.

To be fair some of these cases are not great but come on.

'Windows users have no class".

Naff off.
It's generally true though - PCs look horrible compared to Macs

Obviously there's those of us PC owners who aren't normal folk and who buy the nicer-looking stuff, but in general Macs are better - because they're all gorgeous.

Pointless thread, here and there - I was expecting awful beige boxes etc, but they're not coming up with much. Bah!

Well said that man :)

At the end of the day, I didn't get my PC to look at - I want speed, umph and functionality - nothing else.

To be fair a lot of the midi-tower cases look terrible and cheap. Some of the SFF cases coming out now are decent, especially the Morex 36xx range for Mini-ITX systems as an example of how things are changing.

But what a computer looks like has no bearing whatsoever on how ‘good’ it is, I couldn’t care less what it looks like. I don’t understand why paying a premium for a pretty box somehow give mac owners more ‘class’

Not sure on the 'class' thing but many people do want good looking cases that will sit nicely in a living room that won't look horrible next to other devices like hi-fi equipment.

I have both Mac & PC desk and laptops. My macs outperform my Windows machines too. Never crashes, never needs 'defragging' or flattening and rebuilding. And it looks better. That's about the start and the end of it :)

Fair enough, that's personal preference.

But bare in mind the huge market in custom cases, shiney looking parts, stealth drive covers, case lighting, customised fan grills, LED lights, case windows, styled keyboards, mouses with lights and metallic finishes, monitors with thin bezels and sleek styling...

Don't most people have their PC on the floor out of sight? What you can see is the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

And yes, a lot of Mac users do seem to be elitist and rabidly anti-Windows. It's rather sad really :)

It's classy to pay double for your hardware compared to a PC, didn't you know? :p

I think the demand for pretty looking computers is being overestimated here. Most people I know just have a Dell shoved on a cheap table in the corner of their lounge and don't care what it looks like as long as its cheap and works. If this wasn't the case then Apple's market share would be larger that it's current, almost insignificant, value.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against macs, the OS and everything has always seemed fine to me, but I and most other people are really only concerned with price and here Apple clearly loses.

Ah yeah but all apple owners like style over substance. Macs, ipods.... ;)

Apple products are the smart and hybrid cars of the electrical world. PC's are the Landrovers and BMWs of the world, I.e. they're useful! :p
